We are planning on visiting the Falls in July then going across Canada to Michigan to a wedding. Could some one recommend a campground in Niagera Fall and what to see while we are there. How long should we plan on visiting the Falls ?
Thanks, Bobby

We went about 10 years ago and stayed on the Canadian side at the KOA on Lundy's Lane basically just up the street from Niagara Falls. A city shuttle bus would stop at the entrance to the campground, so it was really easy to visit downtown Niagara without having to drive. I am not sure if anything has changed.

Lots to do there. We had dinner at the Skylon Restaurant overlooking the falls, and it was great - both food and views.

My son and I visited the power station up river and thought it was neat. They have a short tour, you go down 27 stories to see the generators.

Yes, lots to do, been going to Niagara for 70yrs, still find something new in the Niagara area to do. We find something different every year, (I was born in St.Catharines, 10 miles away) and that does not include the Toronto area.
One little mentioned 'attraction' is the Welland Ship Canal, only about 10 miles from Niagara Falls.

I agree with the recommendations on Four Mile SP (low cost SP) and Brabches. (More of a resort).

I created a group in RVillage that may help https://www.rvillage.com/group/2617/niagara-falls-things-to-do-or-done.

Since you are coming from MD you might like to stop over in Letchworth SP, it was rated the top SP in the US! It's about 90 miles from NF.

Just a note, do not bring any guns or rifes with you, they are NOT ALLOWED, even if you have permits here, Canada is a foreign sovereign country with their own laws! Look up on line what can be taken into Canada and what can be brought back to the US.

X2 for the KOA. My DH and I stayed here about 6 years ago. Typical KOA CG with sites pretty close to one another, though the place was clean and well kept. There is an indoor and outdoor pool available, jumping pillow for the kids, dog park for furry friends, and a nice little cafe/pub on site. Lots of things to do. The city shuttle is very affordable and tickets can be purchased in the CG office. I would say the ride to the Falls was about 25 min, (lots of traffic), but we thoroughly enjoyed it and made some new friends each time on it. I highly recommend the CG.

Fairly new park, clean, and not a far drive from the Falls. This is of course on the US side, if that's your intention. Also there is a theme park at the same exit if that's your thing. Good Luck !

I agree. Branches is a Beautiful campground! If a State Park is to your liking, 4 Mile Creek State Park is also very nice. No sewer or water hookups though but if it's a clear evening, you can see Toronto and the sunsets are awesome! Plan on spending half a day on the American side and if you're going to the Canadian side, I would plan another whole day for that. A lot more to do on the Canadian side. The Maid of the Mist is always a great experience and can be boarded on either side. I'm partial to the Cave of the Winds experience on the American side because you get so close to the water and soaking wet LOL.
Also, if history is your thing, a tour of Old Fort Niagara is a fun experience. That only takes an hour or two at most.

I asked him to do one thing and he didn't do any of them.

We stayed at 4 mile creek SP. It had over 250 sites and did not make any reservations there were a lot of open sites. Close to the American side of the falls took the tow car to the Canadian side for the day and into the night. They had a light show at night. I think we stayed there 2 nights.

wife and i were there last september. we stayed at branches of niagara. enjoyed it. spent 1 day at the us side and 1 day on the canadian side. canadian side is more scenic in my opinion. take note you will need passport to return the the united states. not to enter canada. if you do travel into canada check out the small town of niagara on the lake just a bit north of niagara falls. beautiful quaint town. skylon tower is cool on the canadian side. gotta pay to park at the falls but thats expected. we enjoyed it and glad we went. living in north carolina it was a long trip. we spent 8 days total, 4 in niagara falls, then came back south and stayed the rest of the week in lancaster county pa, amish country. to me, niagara falls is similar to pearl harbor, the volcano in hawaii, very interesting to visit but once is enough have no desire to go back.

The wife and I spent a week there, didn't camp, and did something different everyday. You can probably do a different falls/river activity 4-5 days. The Queens highway has wineries at just about every exit on the way to Toronto. Toronto is worth a day visit and is a short drive. There is a casino. Old Fort Niagara, 300 years old.

Anyway, we spent a week and didn't do everything.

I am looking forward to the posts as I am doing the same thing but in reverse in August. I have made reservations at the jelly stone rv park on the Canadian side. After looking to me it seemed they offer a lot of extras. Yes you pay for them but may make the trip more fun. When I made the reservation the person was sure to let me know that its a kid type of park. I said thanks for the info but its always fun to watch kids run around.
