NO RV parking at Diggerland USA outside of Philadelphia

This summer a new theme park is opening outside Philadelphia in West Berlin, New Jersey with a construction theme. Since we have 8 grandsons and several are interested in trucks and excavation equipment we thought that this would be a great place to visit along with Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pa. I contacted both parks and asked about RV parking since the car we tow will only carry 4 people, not the 7 we would probably be bringing. Sesame Place said that although they do not have overnight parking we can get in the parking lot 2 1/2 hours before they open the gates. Diggerland USA said that they do not have any RV parking! I wrote back and said I would gladly pay for 2 parking spots if they charge for parking and told them that I noticed on their site map that they have bus parking and could I park there? They again said that there is no RV parking. I had also asked about shuttle busses from nearby campgrounds and they told me about a campground 25 miles away that I could stay at and use public transportation to get there. That scares me a bit with 2 senior citizens herding a bunch of kids through unfamiliar territory. I wrote back and asked them to reconsider the ban on RV parking since many families with children have RV's and would find this to be an excellent travel destination. No response. I'm dumbfounded. What other options am I missing?

As the OP (I had to google that to see what it meant) I want to thank everyone who posted and contacted Diggerland. I think they got the idea that they would loose some business by not helping us out. THANK YOU !! ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm not the OP, but decided to contact them in writing rather than over the phone. The verbal answers the OP received just didn't sound right.

I just received another written reply from Diggerland:

"I spoke with the folks who take the calls a little earlier to get the specifics. If RV owners want to stay overnight, due to insurance purposes, they could park their RV at a campground in the area and take transportation to the park). If they want to drive their RV to Diggerland USA for their visit to the park, they can park their RVs in our parking lot as long as they are in Diggerland. My understanding is that they can use the bus parking area for their RVs while they are at Diggerland USA.

Also - the bus/RV parking is limited so it is first come, first serve. But, parking is permitted for RVs during visits to Diggerland USA - just no overnight parking.

I got the clarification from management - as posted in the above responses. Agreed that we are a great day trip- come visit! We are RV friendly just no overnight parking."

I did contact Diggerland again and they said that a Walmart is nearby. In contacting Walmart they said that they allow parking during the day but not over night. I asked about walking to Diggerland from there but no one recommends that because of the busy highway I would have to walk on. Now I need to find a local cab company. Does anyone local know of one in that area?

I live not far from there, and contacted Diggerland with the same question. The typed reply I received was, "We do allow RVs to park at the park during your visit to the park - we do not allow overnight parking for RVs or campers. I hope that helps!"

I think the person you spoke to misunderstood your question, and thought you were asking if they allowed overnight stays, not regular daytime parking. I would just go...I highly doubt they will turn anyone away at the gate.

This is not uncommon in this area. There is a casino in Bethlehem, PA north of this area that has no RV parking and other than commuter rail from a distance there is little way to visit Philadelphia's historic sites with an RV due to no RV parking. It is something that just seems to not be considered in planning. And likely they don't care if they lose RV business.

If they are telling him the nearest RV campground is 25 miles away, a taxi in this area would cost a great deal to go that distance with 7 passengers round trip. It could cost less to stay in a hotel near this Diggertown than pay for the round trip taxi ride and the campground.

Wait till a parent of one of your gandkids can go and have them follow you in a second car. Or just rent a backhoe for the weekend.

There is a WalMart not far away. I'd suggest giving them a call to see if you can park there for a day. There may be places like Home Depot or Lowes that have large parking lots where you can park nearby. It may take some searching, but look up local schools, hotels, or any other businesses that may have large parking lots you can use.
