Ocean Lakes Family Campground - HOLY GOLF CARTS!!!!!!

Currently staying at OLFC in Myrtle Beach. Before we came here we read that it was a big place, and can get very crowded, but I didn't realize the golf cart population would outnumber the people!
I attempted to go to the laundry facility in my pickup on Saturday to wash some bedding that got soiled due to a sick child, it took me 30 minutes to go less than half a mile just to find a parking lot full of golf carts, I was not happy. I understand why the golf carts are so popular around here, if you don't have one or rent one you are going to be very frustrated when you try to go anywhere.

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice park, with very nice amenities, nice people, and nice facilities. I just don't care for how populated it is. Just too many people and golf carts for our liking. We will probably look elsewhere next year for our family vacation.

We'll be here a few more days, maybe some of the crowd will depart after today.

My buddy is going to Pireateland. In 2 weeks. Almost the same site we had 2 years ago (ocean front), we loved Pireateland! Great place and very well laid out. OL is terrible compared to PL!

We'll be there in two weeks. The golf cart is already charged up and ready to go. ๐Ÿ™‚

Golf carts aren't the only problem. They have a high theft rate. Had a custom yeti cooler stolen off my campsite, and all that was done was a report was taken. Drove 8 hrs for a total disappointment. Won't return and would not recommend going there.

We wee there last yea at the ACA Rally fifty feet to the ocean but never got our feet wet. Too much to do.
The surf sung us to sleep every night and of course the mini hurricane/tornaco or whatever.

A more appalling problem is the music that is being played by a few on the golf carts. Hearing the "F" word in the music gets my blood boiling. Now it is only a few. I even asked the guard on the beach road strip about what they do & he said he tells them to turn it off...problem is once they leave that vicinity they turn it back on.

Was there 2 weeks ago & golf carts were crazy. We love OL but summer time we will go elsewhere. Our family usually spends Thanksgiving at OL and we rent a golf cart and like riding around but there are nowhere near the carts that are there in the summer.

We tend to check as well. We are okay with golf carts but if they allow gas carts we don't even consider it. Smelly loud beasts with no pollution control. Relics of a different era.

The place is always packed. Most often, they stay booked solid and they're making money hand over fist. The main reason we go is because its huge, they have a lot of stuff to do, and we can take our golf cart.

To each his own. But saying "they" have a problem with this isn't quite correct.

I suppose it would be more appropriate saying "I have a problem with this" as I would NEVER subject myself to that kind of nonsense. That is certainly a personal opinion.

I HATE CROWDS!

Interesting reading reviews of that place. Mostly 4-5 stars, but with many reviews sort of "warning" about the golf carts!

For some reason this reminds of a quote from a certain well known ball player:

We stop at OL in Oct or Nov and most years again in March and don't think golf carts are a problem at all.

Because you are not going at the peak season!

DH has a co-worker who was at OL last week. She goes there regularly. She said the golf carts were worse last week than she's ever seen them.

MBTP is our preferred place to stay at MB.
