Park status sound off.

Seems every winter we post this, so might as well keep the cycle of knowledge going. "How full is your park now that the holidays are over?"

Needless to say if your park is RV's that never move, then it will be pretty static (as in "full".) I'm asking only those that are in non owner parks that have transient slots during the year. Reason being when you're in an owner park, the residents have a vested interest in using there slot. They're "loosing money" if they don't use them.

I'm in deep south Texas. I'm seeing a very large number of open spots. Five years ago we were full after the holidays. Each year it seems like more and more spots are coming available. Rumor is there is over 150 open spots out of 600 this winter. There is no way those can all be Canadians either (due to their dollar exchange.)

Texas isn't know for their great weather, but the price reflects it. So I'm guessing that isn't the real reason for the declining rate, but then maybe it is. :h

We are in central Fl. our park is full and if like last year you have to commit to your site by march to have it (4 mo. min) for 2017.
Seems to be a little bit to do for all interests here.

I guess that's why we always enjoyed moving to different areas. Things don't seem stagnant that way. . . always new places to explore, new people to meet.

That's a fair question. My parents help start this park 30 years ago and keep coming down. They are 90 and 91. We committed to coming every winter once we retired as my sister and I want them to have family near. In the winter, I am here on our lot right behind them and in the summer they are in their park model in her woods. Safe to say that once they quit coming, we will be traveling.

What activities besides cards, bingo, karaoke... Do you guys have?

To much to list on here. http://www.sunscapervresort.info/ Click on Activity Schedule. Go to weekly. Click on this week and see the activities in the park.

One of the special things at our park is the free beer, pop and ice.
The ice is available anytime. Pop,beer snacks and stuff at all shows and dances. The dances are free and shows are 10 bucks.
There are plenty of things to do from fishing to shuffleboard, bingo of some sort 6 days a week. Constant trips and other events to see and do. We are never bored.
People that work here are exceptional.

Sunscape RV Resort near Casa Grande, AZ...

It appears from the website that this is an owner park or am I misreading that since they also list rent at $350/month. :h

Rent out 24 sites in the office. This season $350. a month. Next season $375. a month. Plus electric. Yes the rest are private owners. However. A lot of them rent out their lots. Even Park Models. If you go to the website www.sunscapervresort.com and click on the classifieds you will see this.

We like a bit of both, This week we went to 2 exceptional shows, one from Branson and one from Nashville. Walked to both, one $6.00 and one $10.00, both well worth it. We totally skip bingo, jams, shuffleboard, cards and those type of activities. We do many community and nature activities.

The parking lot at our main activity hall was the fullest I've ever seen - for a "jam session" the other day. I guess most people like that. You'd have to wheel me in strapped to a gurney - I think those things are generally horrible.

I had the r/c track to myself to practice corner drifting.

Had a rock and roll band last night that was very good - lots of dancing but the room wasn't full. I guess the yee-haw fans stayed home.

What the park offers for entertainment does not really interest us. We are in this specific locale for the off-roading not the off key singing. The DW does teach water color classes, but other than the pool and gym areas, we don't use the park amenities.

I also agree with this statement by John& Joey, 100% - "What we look for is a nice clean park with large sites that shows pride of ownership that is in a destination area. If the working class enjoys going there on a vacation, then it's a perfect spot for us for a long term stay."

For us no, we can do that ourselves given the right area and neighbors. So that is key, not having some activity director making daily events like in an assisted living facility to pass the time.

What we look for is a nice clean park with large sites that shows pride of ownership that is in a destination area. If the working class enjoys going there on a vacation, then it's a perfect spot for us for a long term stay.
