Parks Near Nashville TN.

We are heading to Nashville the first two weeks in July.

Anybody have any reasonably and nice campgrounds that they would like to share? And we need to do while there.

Seven Points for me. Couldn't pay me to stay anywhere else when around Nashville.

Need to decide and make reservations. All the parks fill up quick on the weekends in the area around Nashville. Cedar Creek, near Mount Juliet, Cedars of Lebanon south of Lebanon, Montgomery Bell near Dickson Tennessee. You are lucky if you can find a spot at Seven Points near Nashville. I have camped at all of them......there is also Pooles Knob on Percy Priest Lake, near Lavergne.

Seven points, nice, but farther away and no sewer if those things are important to you. Our favorite little bar, really also, for families, is John A's right on Music valley road. Good food. Check out free Midnight Jamboree if they still have it. Lots of history nearby if you are interested. Can get a three home/fort pass. Hermitage nice. Also, star tours, if you like that. Free museum near opry

If you stay at Two Rivers ask to be as far away from the transportation garage as possible. That beeping when a bus backs up drove us crazy and it went on till very late. Koa is ok, but some sites seemed very small. We preferred the Jelly stone even though we didn't have kids with us. We stayed back in the back area and it was like a park setting. That was about five years ago, I assume it's still pretty much the same. Imho, that is the best location of them all.

We found a couple of "challenges" the one time we stayed at Two Rivers, and won't stay there again.

1) 24 hour bus garage abuts it - noise all night long

2) No electrical breakers at the individual sites - there are often 50 or more yards away making a pain to shut the breaker off to plug/unplug (not to mention a poor way to do sites)

3) Lots of electrical issues, low voltage, power outages if it's raining.

I stayed at the KOA on Music Valley Drive last fall. It has a great location and it's a very nice park. BUT - if you go, ask them to not put you under the trees that drop all the acorn things (they'll know what you mean). Every little breeze caused the bombs to drop on your roof. Difficult to sleep. This KOA is not cheap but I think they have weekly/monthly rates. It's close to the Opry and a big Bass Pro.

Above location is INCORRECT. Montgomery Bell SP is about 35 miles WEST of NASHVILLE - take exit 172 north from I-40. Knoxville is 200 miles further east.

Another big +1 for Seven Points. Beautiful campground, spacious wooded sites, W/E, on a big reservoir with boating & swimming, pretty easy access to Nashville.

Tons of things to do in Nashville. Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, just going up and down Broadway and sampling all of the live music happening day & night.

Another vote for Two Rivers. KOA more expensive and Yogi needs updating.

We stayed at the Nashville KOA, nice park, the City Shuttle stops there and the Grey Line runs a shuttle to the Grand Ol Oprea stops there also. Fun town.

We always stay at Two Rivers Campground on Music Valley Drive. Close to Opryland Hotel and The Grand Ole Opry, which are must stops for us everytime.

Montgomery Bell State Park is about 35 miles west of Knoxville. According to my sister who lives nearby, they have made some of the sites full hookups. The problem with those on the lake is odds are they will be booked at least on the weekends. If you do stay out here, on the outskirts of White Bluff is Carl's Perfect Pig for some great BBQ.
