Rockport Aransas area too late?

Trying to find a spot in Aransas, Rockport area. Every place so far is already full. I guess I started looking too late. Might have to come up with a plan "B". Never had a problem finding a spot for a couple months anywhere else, didn't think this could be as hard as it is...

Called/e-mailed most of what looked like the nicer parks to no avail. There might be some openings in some of the less desirable places. Changed our plans and we're moving on. Decided to just wander through some of TX and on through AZ and into Utah. Plenty of places we haven't seen. It's nice to have wheels under us..

Try Wilderness Oaks. Also, near Goose Island SP there is a RV park called hidden oaks. You will to really call around as winter texans started arriving last week.

Anybody care to recommend a park in Rockport, TX area for a couple of nights around second week of December? Big rig.

Checked accuweather yesterday. Forecast for the winter in Rockport is colder and wetter than normal. Interestingly, the LR forecast for the valley is normal.

Rain showers mixed with some wet snow flakes forecast for this weekend. "Highs" in the low 40's around here. And so it begins again! Dreaming of retirement and warmer winters in Rockport.

Yes, near 90 yesterday with high humidity here in south-TX 😞 Forecast is for upper 80's most of the week and we are ready for some cooler temps! Snow showers yesterday in WI. We will be wearing shorts and flip-flops till Thanksgiving, no doubt. But eventually the wind will swing from the north and we may get to have a bonfire:) Safe Travels!

We decided to push our departure date late this year to sometime in mid November based on the nice northern El Nino weather forecast. Due to a family illness down south, we'll now leave late October.

I really didn't want to leave that early, but now that the leaves are starting to come off the trees, it's get me out of here time!!!

Just too darn bleak and gloomy at these upper latitudes when the days become short. As the song goes "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes" is still true even when the weather is being a bear down in Southern TX.

According to this morning's news the southern states will be colder and rainier than the northern states. Time to head north!

If it is any colder and wetter than last winter there will be a lot of us looking elsewhere. Before people start saying how much warmer it is than the Midwest, note that I do not plan to winter in the Midwest.

I totally agree. Only problem is if we keep up with the current winter weather pattern down there, 5-10 degrees warmer still isn't enough to get outside on most days in January. You can sit in an RV in Rockport just as easy as in the RGV.

The rule of thumb is that for every 200 miles one travels south, there is an extra week of fall and spring, or two less weeks of winter. Worth it for some, not for others. Five or ten degrees in January are worth the drive to the RGV.

Interesting about SA. Makes sense since so many enjoy the island, and the drive isn't that bad.

I was thinking it was RGV snowbirds moving a little more north. Once you get south of CC English seems to be a second language, not a lot of money, and that drive down 77 sure is a lot of no and where till you hit the valley. I can see how some snowbirds would cut off 150 miles and stay put in the Rockport area.
