RV parking over night along PCH?

Hello my name is Edwin, and I wanted to know if it's ok to park your rv Along Pch? I have seen videos of Rvs parking along pch and setting their awnings and using the beach. I'm not sure if this is legal, and could not find any info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Emma Woods, in Ventura, part of the state park system, go to reserve America to check it out.

You can use ReserveAmerica to book spaces at Crystal Cove State Park down in Orange County. The CG is just inland from PCH and there is a walkway under the highway for getting to the ocean.

For most of the year, you'll likely need to book it as far in advance as the system allows. In our pre-RV days we spent a weekend tent camping there shortly after it opened. Lovely, lovely view (and soundtrack when traffic dies down).

Just off the 1 (actually, the 101, before it branches off in SLO) is Avila Beach and there are some sites right on the water - near Port San Luis.

About 8 years ago we stayed heading south one overnight on the side of the PCH, after doing the redwoods further north, with tons of other RV's, had a pay station and if I recall we were limited to a few days max there if we chose to stay, alas as working stiffs time didn't permit that trip. Hard to get space in July/August we were told by many that stop regularly there. Was a great experience and a wonderful drive along the coast right down to seeing Northern Big Elephant Seals further south. Think it was at or near Solimar Beach Ventura according to my journal write up where we stayed O/N.. For a pull in off the road and no facilities felt the price was a little steep at that time according to my write up (LOL).

The whole Highway had us awestruck with tons of stop offs along the way. So very much to see, enjoy and soak in over 800miles.. ENJOY, we sure can't wait to do it all again one day soon and much slower as we head into early retirement.

Been by there tons of times, though we preferred Sycamore Canyon CG.

Having been on every inch of PCH, Highways 1 and 101, in California, I agree that the OP has probably seen images of Rincon Parkway.

I don't remember any comparable stretch of road.

Having lived in Ventura County for 17 years and surfed and bicycled that stretch, I can tell you that competition for those spots is extremely fierce.

Pacific Coast Highway runs on and off from San Diego to Ventura, over 100 miles, and Rincon is not part of "PCH" nor named that.
Are there places to park and deploy the awning on PCH? Yes, but finding a spot on PCH during the summer is almost as hard as getting into Rincon. It's the beach in California.. Good luck

I'd be willing to bet most of those pictures that you see are either the earlier reference Rincon Park spots or staged events with proper permits and road closure to ensure safety. From what I remember of the PCH, there are pull-offs where you can make lunch and take in the amazing views. I doubt you could set up camp though.

I'm a little envious that you are going to make that drive. It is truly a gorgeous and wonderful drive. Lots of amazing bridges, spectacular views and wonderful places for side trips. I hope you enjoy your trip. That is on our "retirement trip" list!!!

Rincon Parkway is the only one I know of, it's up by Ventura. I've lived in Calif for over 50 years, and while there might be others, that's the only one I know of.
