RV Parks In Gatlinburg TN

Does anybody have any good recomendations for rv parks in Gatlinburg or close to it?

I will still recommend Pine Mountain. They do not have a playground, but your boys are too old for that, anyway.

The campground is 1 block off the parkway, but is behind a knoll so you don't get all the traffic noise, but you are close if you want to go somewhere. The other campgrounds are either a mile or so off the parkway or right on it. (In PF, anyway.)

There are 3 pools, a large indoor, a small outdoor and a lazy river outdoor to choose from. The bath house has bathrooms with stalls, but has 6 or 7 individual shower rooms with heat/air.

From PM RV P, you are 2 blocks from the Dollywood turnoff or you can take the trolley which goes to most all the campgrounds. You are also 4 blocks (there are 10 lights in PF) from the road to Gatlinburg, either the bypass to go up in the mountains or the main road into the town. Just before you get into town, you can stop at the trolley station and ride the trolley in/out so you don't have to park in town.

It is close to lots of restaurants - walking distance, even. But there is really no place to walk or jog other than inside the park or behind the fire department or police department (just up the hill).

Anyway, it's a great place and the sites along the creek are shaded. The pull-thrus are NOT. The vegetation has not grown up enough yet to provide much shade.

I have 2 kids 13 and 14, boys. I either talk to my neighbors or not. I always help if someone needs it. I like early morning walks or jogs in the woods. Like to eat out at times at a restaurant. I like the pools too along with my kids.

Simple -- to get the best recommendation you have to give a little more info. G'burg/PF/Townsend has CG's galore and to some degree or the other they try to appeal to a targeted audience. Do you have young kids that need a playground/pool? Do you like to have a little room around you or do you prefer to know your neighbor? Traffic bother you? Do you spend most of your time on the trails and scenic drives or do you spend most of your time in town shopping and walking around?
With kids and slightly off the beaten path - Clabough's has some decent sites and 2 different pools and is easy in and out. With kids and in the middle is River Plantation. Without kids, but still want a pool - Camping in the Smokies is a quiet, out-of-the-way CG. My DW and I found a wonderful little CG that has no pool or bathhouse but nice sites and in a great out-of-the-way area called Up The Creek. Some of the CG's in Townsend are older but are nice because they are so close to Cades Cove and great hiking and great fishing.
Describe what you want in a CG and the folks here will steer you in the right direction.

We stayed at Twin Creek in Gatlinburg last October. We were in a pop-up at the time and my parents have a Class A. The campground was very nice. The restrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen, and the location is perfect. My only slight negative with it has to do with the staff. They were never friendly. They weren't necessarily rude, but definitely not warm and welcoming. We would stay there again though.

Two Rivers Landing RV Resort was a unique place. Very nice, but not outdoorsy.

had a great time. Backed right up to a creek, owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Lots for the kids to do if you have them.

If you just want a plain place to park. Camping in the Smokies The trolley stops right out front. Not to far from a grocery store.

In Gatlinburg, our favorite is Twin Creek RV Resort....FHU, pool, playground, creeks, small store. Another plus is that the town trolley makes a stop at the park. For a very small fee, you can ride this to downtown and lots of other places.

In Maggie Valley (a quieter, less busy area), we have used Stone Bridge RV Park. Also FHU and creeks, and just down the highway you can get on the Blue Ridge Parkway or go to Cherokee. There is a beautiful waterfall on the way to Cherokee.
