We have reservation to stay at Silver Strand State Beach on Coronado Island, San Diego Ca. Late June. My question is, We had to break up our stay, we are staying in one site one night and then moving to another site to get the nights we need. BUT we could not get one night in the middle of those nights. And we are waiting to hopefully find a cancellation. IF a site does not open up. Where do you suggest we go for one night?

OP, sorry it took me so long to respond to your question about temps. It is usually in the mid to high 60s at the beach in June. The nights cool off to about 60. If you are right by the coast, you will not need air conditioning. A few miles inland, the temps go up a lot.

The water, by the way, will probably be in the mid-60s -- pleasant if you have a wetsuit, otherwise kind of rugged. The sun usually does not come out till around noon in June -- we call that "June gloom." But bring a lot of sunscreen -- even if it is cloudy, a lot of UV comes through.

The other factor is wind -- at around 11 am, the breeze comes up, holding at around 5 to 8 mph until the early evening. Not enough to shake your awning, but enough to feel cool when you are in the water. Also, the wind messes up the waves in the afternoon.

The waves, by the way, should be pretty mild in June -- usually about two feet. The biggest waves are in the winter and sometimes in August.

You will hear stories about sharks -- ignore them. The chance of even seeing a shark is very, very low. You might see dolphins playing in the surf, though -- very cool animals!

Thank you for all the information, my husband and I chuckled a little about the wind, We live in Kansas and are use to gust 15 to 30mph! So I am not even sure we will notice 5 to 8 breeze. Our granddaughter will be attending a Sea Camp where they will be in the water everyday. So this is great information. Again Thank you!

we had the same issue when we stay at Silver Strand.

we moved to Sweetwater Regional Park, one of San Diego County parks.
relatively short drive inland and very nice place. W/E hookups and cheaper than Calif. State Park prices.

We might look into this, All of the RV parks want as much $$ as a hotel! Its crazy. Thank you

Guess you haven't stayed in a hotel around there. Way more expensive. In fact everything in CA is expensive as you will find out.

ESPECIALLY anything near the beach.

Reality sets in, UGGG ! Thank you

Bring warm clothes -- late June can be very cool!
If its cool at night? Is it during the day also? We could stay with no hook-ups for one night. I was worried it would be really hot.
