We will be making this trip in late April and have 2 or 3 days to do it. I think our route will be Through Nashville on to Montgomry Ala Etc. Any thought?

I have some camping buddy's who live in the St Louis area and when they travel to Destin they overnight at one of two places along the way. Texas T campground a bit North of the Alabama/Tennessee line or at: Northgate RV park 6 miles south of the TN border. Both are just off I-65 have full hook ups and are reasonably priced.

We've made that trip a number of times using both the Nashville and Jackson, MS routes. We now use I-55 to Canton, MS, just north of Jackson, to spend the night. The next day trip to Destin is less than a full day. This is the route outlined in the previous post using hwys 49 and 98 from Jackson to Destin.

We would take 55 to Jackson, MS, 49 to Hattiesburg, then over 98 to Mobile, and down to 10/Pensacola and along the beach. Not much shorter, actually, Google says about .5 hour longer, but to the beach sights sooner. And a great trip is the ferry across Mobile Bay at Dolphin Island. A longer ride but very enjoyable.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

I-155 does not connect to I-40 it goes north toward Kentucky. You will take 412 and hit I-40 at Jackson Tn and you will also pick up 45 shortly after getting on I-40

We may have passed Mobile rather than Montgomery, sorry for the omission.

It is 755+ miles from St Louis to Destin, Fl. I suggest that you follow the following route and assuming that you leave at 9:00 in the morning and stopping at 5:oo PM you can make it in two days.( about 1 & 1/5 days)

These are all good roads,

I-55 south to I-155 (US-412)
I-155 to I-40
I-40 east on exit to US-45
US-45 south to I-65 near Mobile, Al.
Turn north on I-65 to I-165
I-165 to I-10
I-10 east to SR 281 just east of Pensacola
Follow SR 281 south to US-98
Follow US-98 east to Destin, Fl.

If you route yourself through Montgomery the route is 870 miles, about 115 miles longer.

We came back to Wyoming from Destin through Nashville, past St. Louis, Kansas City and then home. Once you get into Alabama, we found there were a lot of two lane roads with a number of small towns along the way. We made it easily from Destin to Nashville in about eight hours and then to Kansas City, through St. Louis, in about eight to nine hours. Gee, there were sure a lot of highways in the St. Louis area, really had a great time following our Nuvi directions. If you don't mind the two-lanes and little towns, two to three days would allow you make it easily.
