We are CANADIANS. How will they charge us for the toll. Second post about this. Heading through this week. Hoping someone has an answer or contact information to ask.

I live around here and I truly don't mind paying the tolls. Course I don't have to cross it daily, however traffic flows so much better it is worth the price. If only the city didn't spend 10+ years tons of $$$ studying where to put it and which one to build. They could have both been free.

If they don't, it's certainly not your fault. They're not really concerned about snowbirds crossing a few times a year. They're after commuters crossing 2+ times daily and couriers like UPS and FedEx zipping back and forth.

It doesn't matter what direction you are coming from the cameras are on the Indiana side of the bridge.
I've been to all 50 States but my RV hasn't.

Not sure which direction you are coming from, but we came up 65 and went through continuing north on 65 about 2 weeks ago, there were toll signs but not on the route we took through, saw them on other lanes. I didn't see any "407" style cameras etc. on the route we took. If there were tolls we have not been mailed a bill yet!

On edit, I checked their website (riverlink), the help section says 2 one way crossings will trigger an invoice, and that they are working with states besides Indiana and Kentucky to have them enforce toll collection. Not sure if you make a trip across the bridge twice a year if they will store info or not.

Just drive across it, I bet you don't even get charged. I live around here and if we have a trailer hooked up we don't get a bill. Now that we have a transponder we will be charged all the time.

We went thru one on the way to FL and were never charged last year. I truly believe the people who live around here will be paying for the bridges. I could be wrong but I don't believe so.

when last year? they just started chargeing nov. or dec. not sure which.

We crossed a Riverlink bridge on the way to Destin last year in another state. We just drove thru since no one to pay expecting a bill in the mail. With the new bridge before we registered our license plates we never got charged.

There is no booth to take your money. There is no stopping. Keep moving they take a picture of your license plate and send you the bill.
If you don't have a transponder the rates are:
4 axle vehicles are $6 with a registered plate and $7 if not
If this is too much go around and through New Albany IN like Teacher's Pet said.

I read and searched the Internet for some logical answer. I live in Indiana and will probably drive that direction once every 2 or 3 years. I suppose if they don't have some kind of booth to take cash before crossing, I'll just wait for a bill to come in the mail. Looks like that's how they do it.

Wonder if you covered your license plate before crossing if they could figure out who you are?

Take I-264 West and cross the New Albany bridge to the west of Louisville then back east to I-65 North. We came across there 2 1/2 weeks ago, no toll there. Tolls are charged on I-65 and I-264 on the east side of town on the two new bridges.

According to the Riverlink toll page, it's an extra dollar for the non-registered toll by plate. If you are worried about it setup a toll by plate account, then close it after 30 days or so. I did this in Washington to simplify our crossings and they just mailed me a check for the balance when I closed the account. I've even registered my vehicles in Vancouver BC for the toll by plate bridges, just for the savings - same thing, closed the account after 30 days.

Unless you are going to be on a lot of US EZPass type roads, it not worth getting their EZPass friendly transponder. I'd just either register for the toll by plate account or just let it ride and wait for the bill in the mail.

i'm not sure i understand the 'how' part of the question. very few American toll roads or bridges will take credit cards and none that i know of will take checks. i'd have some American dollars handy and be prepared to pay in cash.

i did a google search on 'Louisville KY Toll Bridge' and got a ton of information. suggest you do that as i'm sure it will answer whatever questions you may have.
