Tucson last week of Nov Recommendations

We're headed further west, but would like to spend about a week in Tucson. Any recommendations? Last week of Nov plus 1st of Dec.

Just need full hook ups, and reasonable size

I've looked in RV Park Reviews and have some ideas, but first hand advice from trusted RV.Net people holds weight.

We are at Pima County Fairgrounds right now, they have an rv show going on and still have plenty of sites, all full hook up $25 a day or $125 week. They also have bathrooms and laundry room.

...and right next to Desert Trails is Justin's Diamond J where we spend a couple of months each winter. The sites are larger than Desert Trails, and as with Desert Trails, you can hike/walk/ride several miles of trails directly from the back of the RV Park into the Tucson Mountain Park. Also close to Saguaro National Park West, the Sonoran Desert Museum, and several other places on the west side of Tucson. I'll also second Catalina State Park. It's a bit further out of town, but the campground is great, and the scenery outstanding. Much to see and do in the Tucson area, and I'd recommend you make a stop at the Visitor's Center to get some good advice. They sell a passport book there that gets you a lot of BOGO's and discounts for most of the more popular sites. Well worth the money.

We wintered for several years at Desert Trails RV park. You will love the place. It has a lot of activities and is a wonderfully funky place. However, it is 20-30 minutes from downtown. They fill up in the winter but I think late Nov would not be a problem.

Our favorite RV park in the Tucson area is not actually in Tucson. It is the Butterfield RV Resort in Benson, about 40 miles east of Tucson on I-10. Take a look at their website HERE. When visiting Phoenix, we also stay outside the city at the Val Vista Resort in Casa Grande.

Both parks are relatively small by Arizona resort standards but both keep spaces available for short-time visitors. At Butterfield, short-time spaces are asphalt paved pull-thrus and right next to the office for easy in-out.

Catalina if you can get in - but it is WAY on the north suburbs. Very central and good is the KOA. (I live in this area)

You might try the Pima County Fairgrounds RV Park. http://www.the-rvpark.com/

Not sure if they have any events during the time you are planning to be there or not, but I have had several friends stay there and they liked the facility. Not far off of I-10, but not too close to the city either.

One of our all-time favorite campgrounds is Catalina State Park, on the north side of Tucson. Water and electric hook-ups--no sewer. Nestled at the foot of the Catalina Mountains.
