If anyone is cancelling their reservations for 40' RV sites, during end of June or anytime in July, please email or PM me as i will be interested in getting those. At least a week long stay is preferred.
Currently i am not able to find any site for camping (RV =40' length)

Bears are everywhere in this area. This is a lovely campground. We've been there often and have never seen a bear. Just go!!

Geobiker - we've stayed there several times. Although we were told there was a bear sighed in one of the loops and even crushed a guys camp stove, we never saw one. We were always cautious though. We slept with our bedroom windows open to hear the elk and wolves at night and we did! Just once for the wolves but several times for the elk. On our stay at Grizzly, there is an area outside the fence that you can talk your dogs for a walk. We were cautioned by office personnel to watch for bears there too.

We considered camping at Bakers awhile back, but remembered reading somewhere that there are problems with Bears. We are heading out west again this summer so could you enlighten us on your experiences with bear issues. We, too, like the FS environment vs. a private cg.

It is always nice to get the facts from someone who has camped multiple times in a cg in question. Thanks so much.

We stayed at grizzly in 2009, great park and no insects of any kind whatsoever. Would stay there again when in that area.

Yes, that's Grizzly. We were there inmid July few years ago and had no problems with any insects. Very nice, well kept park.

Wait a minute, I just read a whole bunch of reviews that said Grizzly RV Resort had mosquitos 24/7! Is this someting you guys found??

Where did you read those reviews?

We stayed at Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone MT in 2010 and didn't have any problems with mosquitoes or any other insects for that matter. If you look at the reviews on rvparkreviews.com Grizzly RV park gets consistently top ratings from RVers. We have reservations there again this year for an 11 day stay.

We're only 30 feet long but we've made several visits to Y'stone and always stay at Grizzly in West Yellowstone. Keep checking with them, I think you'll find they've got a spot for your rig.

ReneeG,

Thanks- sounds like very good local info! As soon as I can shed my job- we'll try that. Thanks for posting!

Jim - just a suggestion - think about staying outside the park but close. Since you are wanting to stay within, I'm assuming that you want that FS CG feel. Try Baker's Hole FS CG 2 miles North of West Yellowstone, MT. There are plenty of big rig sites there and most have electricity. There's a water fill up as you pull in but if you miss it, using a "water thief" you can fill up at any faucet throughout. This is one of our favorite close sites and much more roomier than any of the Yellowstone CG's. What we do, since Baker's Hole is a first come, first served CG, is to stay in town at Grizzly, next morning, leaving our fifth wheel at Grizzly, we drive over to Baker's Hole and secure a site, then drive back and get our rig. You may end up staying at Grizzly for the duration. A lot of folks like that RV Park, it's super nice, but we prefer the FS look and feel. Good luck and I hope you get a cancellation so you can stay within Yellowstone.
