Firmer cushion foam source?

Howdy! The seat cushions in my trailer compress to pancake thickness almost immediately...is there a good source for firmer foam rubber you folks can pass along? Thanks in advance!

I buy mine on the web from Foam Factory/Foam by Mail. The highly resilient foam will hold up much longer and there are several densities to choose from. The RV manufacturers use pretty low density stuff because it's a lot cheaper. You can cut your foam to size quite easily with an electric knife. If you have a bandsaw, that works even better. The foam they sell at Joanne's is probably no better than what you have. I've been most happy with the Lux High Quality foam. It's pretty firm at first but it will soften up just a bit over time.

I used this company where they helped me decide which foam and then fit up my cushions while I waited. This may be of no help to the OP, because I don't know if they ship. If you are local, this is the place to go.

Foam density is measured in lbs/cuft so the heavier the foam is, the higher quality for the most part. Also lbs/cuft doesn't mean firmer, there is a separate measurement for that. Moral of this story: Just because its firmer, doesn't mean it will last longer. 2.5+ lbs/cuft is the good stuff and will stay firm.
Ever notice how light weight RV cushions are? That's the low quality stuff. Might be firm now but won't be for long... Check these numbers when you purchase.

Rochford Supply, an upholstery distributor. You should have a similar outlet close by. Nearly every metro area has one or more.

The upholstery distributors are 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the online foam dealers. I did my cushions with "medium firm" and couldn't be happier.

You can find plenty of distributors by typing

in goggle.

We priced having it done locally and it was outrageous.
