So we are looking at getting out first toy hauler. Wanting something that could fit at least 2 street bikes (crotch rockets) and 2 dirt bikes. Wanting it to be a separate garage or kinda like a cy3418 maybe. Possible wanting a side patio as we have dogs? Pretty new any advice would be helpful really. We want to be in this thing full time.

Only thing that's different for my year of truck between 2500 and 3500 is leaf springs. Same axle same trans same frame. I do wanna be on the safe side though. Leaning toward something 15k loaded before water as I don't plan to really lug 830 lbs of water very far if I can help it.

I never said you need a dually to tow anything! But lets be truthful here do you really believe a 2500 truck is rated to tow a 44' toy hauler?

Its your truck, family and right to do as you want, me I have done both and feel better towing 16k lbs with my dually.
You said you wouldn't tow a 40' trailer with a srw. And I posted there are options for toy haulers that he can get that will be fine behind his 3/4t. A buddy of mine has one. My trailer is 17k loaded towed behind my srw easily. Too any on here say you need to use a dually to tow when you don't. Get into the 20k range and yes you need a dually. Also people are saying trailer lengths equal weight. Not true at all. 40' trailer can be light or heavy. A person really has to look at the weight of trailer, not just length.

Yes you can get four bikes in. And I would suggest that you buy one that is Four Season's for cold weather conditions.

I wouldn't tow a 40' with a single wheel truck. Better check you pin weight and truck rating. With the size of trailer you're going to need I think you'll exceed your max payload. Plus it will not be as stable as a dualie. You didn't mention the bed/truck type either, is it standard cab, Mega cab?

This has been covered so many times. Mine is a 41' and I have a srw truck. It tows awesome. I wish people would quit this you need a dually to tow anything ****. Yes everyone has their opinion and I gave mine. I am less then what my truck is rated for.

So towing capacity is 13k but thats just bumper no real 5th rating like some trucks. But I see your point for sure I think I'm gonna see if I can find something under 15k loaded full of fuel water and bikes. Hard part I think will be the 12 ft garage.

I have a 41 raptor with a 12 foot garage. It would be good for the bikes and I could live in it full time except for the winter here. Winter down south would be fine I'm sure. But loaded I'm about 17k pounds which is too heavy for your 3/4t. BUT a buddy of mine has a slightly smaller 5th wheel that has a 10' garage. Loaded he is about 12-13k pounds which would be fine for your truck. It would work for you but it has less living area then mine. I could full time if I had to but would prefer a bigger trailer. Main thing is look around a lot. Im sure you will find something that will work but with a 3/4t truck you are limiting yourself. Most of these bigger units are 14k empty and it doesn't take mush to add 3 or 5000 pounds.

I agree about the anchor points, mine is basically setup for 2 bikes, they are nice tie down points, but not enough. If I were to need to load a bunch of bikes I would have to do some fabbing an load them sideways.

I was a pretty vocal critic of Weekend Warrior back in the day, but at least they ate their own chow. The layout of our old WW worked fine for our bikes.

But our new (and really nice) Crossroads definitely wasn't designed by off-road guys. The tie downs in the garage are all wrong for more than two bikes. I fabricated something to add three more anchor points to the rear edge by the ramp, but it's kind of a hack. We have room for a lot more gear, but anchoring a bunch of bikes has been a challenge with this setup.

dedmiston..your really having an issue fitting 5 dirt bikes? I have a 12' garage and fit a canam outlander max, canam renegade, yami pw 50, full size weber grill and 2 large coolers along with gear. Another time I fit the outlander max and 2 full size sport quads along with the gas grill.
yes, I have to get creative and no I cant unload one thing without taking it all out but I do it. I really feel what the op is asking can be done, there are options out there for travel trailer toy haulers that wouldn't put him over the weights of his truck.

I do agree the limiting factor is the truck, I wouldn't ever tow a large 5th wheel with a 3/4 ton again.

Lol lets jump back on topic. What are some good options to the 4 bikes full time rv. Separated garage that the 05 cummins could handle.

I think you’re going to have a tough time with that criteria:

* 3/4 ton SRW towable
* Cargo capacity for four bikes
* Build quality sufficient for full timing

I would start by pulling up the specs for your truck (towing capacity as well as pin weight limit), figure out the weights for your four bikes, and then go to Y-Guy’s The new Complete List of Toy Haulers and start browsing units, viewing floorplans, and looking at specs. You’ll see whether such a creature exists.

We used to fit five bikes in our open plan toy hauler. It was a tight fit, but we could do it. Now with our “bigger” garage model, it’s tough to fit four dirt bikes.
