5th wheel toy hauler wish list. Anything like this exist?

I currently have a 34' Laredo w/bunkhouse that is just about perfect for my family: Wife and I, plus 2 kids, aged 10 and 6.

It has separate quarters for the kids, an outdoor kitchen and ample living space, all at 8900 lbs dry. I can pull it with my Diesel F350 with zero problems.

That said, the one thing it does lack is a suitable garage. We currently race BMX so hauling the bikes and gear around is possible, just not ideal. However, I am looking to get the kids dirtbikes soon and would hate to not be able to camp when we go riding. A Toy Hauler is definitely in our future, but I have no desire to lug around a 15,000 lb, 42 ' behemoth just so I can take 600lbs of dirtbikes with us. The current crop of Toy Haulers definitely have a purpose, but are way overkill for most people's needs. Mine for sure.

I just want a rig like the one I have, with a small sealed garage. The closest thing I have found to what I am after would be the Grand Design Momentum 376TH. It has the rear master with a small garage placed under the queen bed. Pretty smart way to do just what I am after. The only problem with this particular one is that it lacks a bedroom for the kids.

In my frustration, I decided to spend some time (more time than I would like to admit) piecing together what I feel would be about the perfect rig for my needs. I have attached an image of what I came up with below...



The overall length this is about 36', based on very crude measurements/guesses. The weight is a total crapshoot, but it definitely doesn't need to be heavy for what I need. The front bunkhouse is not complete either as I ran out of energy trying to create this imaginary RV, but as a whole, this is what I am after...

- Small, sealed garage. I do not need access from inside and would prefer not to be able to.
- bunkhouse
- 1 1/2 baths
- Dinette AND tri-fold couch. I can't stand the big 'party' couches. I am camping with my family. I'm not looking to party with my 6 year old.
- I do not need an onboard generator. I have a garage that I can put my current generator in.
- I do not need onboard gas. I have a garage with gas cans.


Does anything like this exist? Am I the only person out there who feels this way?

If you made it this far, I certainly appreciate it. Hoping for some insight.

Sounds like a regular 5th wheel toy hauler with a dedicated garage is what you need. WE had a Fuzion 342 that fit the bill. 12' garage with 2 queen beds for the kids. Bottom bed made into a dinette for eating and card playing. Close the door and kids had their own area with TV and Xbox. You don't think you want an onboard fuel station or generator, but when you realize the convenience of both you are going to wonder why you would ever want to lug around fuel jugs and a stand alone generator.

The garage is a dual purpose room. Why you would not want access to it would not be practical. Use it to haul you bikes, BBQ and whatever else. Unload at your destination and roll out the carpet, put the door down, pull the big screen door down and enjoy. Toy haulers are a very multi-use trailer and you are going to get more uses out of it spaces than you think.

Otherwise you can just get a bumper pull bunk house TT and put the bikes in the back of the pickup and call it a day. Would be a heck of a lot cheaper.

Some of the toy haulers have a dedicated garage but ceiling height is cut down on the forward section to allow a sleeping loft from the "living" side of the RV. This would allow you to haul the bikes and not unload when going to sleep. There is still a dedicated bedroom in the nose for the parents, so everyone has a place.

Most toy haulers allow the couch or dinette to be converted to a bed - This is also an option for the kids. My previous toy hauler had a queen bed for the adults and dual twin beds converted from the dinette and couch for the kids or guests.

I am looking for almost the same thing. We really like the grand design momentum 350m but it at the top of my trucks weight rating. Have you found any designs you like.

what about getting a bumper pull trailer that has everything you need and haul the bikes in the bed or get a sled deck for them?

Look again at his design, or go to the Grand Design web site and look at that 376th. You do not sleep in the garage, the bedroom is above it. You do not have to move anything or have gas smells in the bedroom. I do agree about watching TV, that is one of the things that I do not like about our current trailer, the TV you have to look at sideways.

I have seen a modest TT that had bunks in the back, and a motorbike door and ramp leading up into the mbr. The bed in there is a murphy bed and folds up when the bike is inside the rig. Not sure that's a viable solution but I imagine a google search might reveal a few similar layouts.

A good idea, and a nice floorplan concept. I think there would be interest in a more traditional floorplan with small garage.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything like it.

Might check out the Keystone Outback Loft Toyhauler Travel Trailer. I think it has a small toyhauler section... Probably not high-end like your pick seems to be...
