Start over!!

I think somebody is giving you (or you have) bad information......

You need a one ton at minimum - no matter what brand.

Before you drop all that "coin" on any "pickup", suggest checking what others are towing their *heavy* 5th wheels with.....;)

A F350 or Chevy 3500 dually will do very nicely.

Get a good used one. Save big bucks. Tons of low milage older trucks because the deep pocket guys have to have the latest gadget. Oh, I would stay away from mid year Fords, Took e'm a long time to learn how to build a diesel.

I didn't see Chevy mentioned...just Ram and Ford...BUT, no reason not to look at a 2500/3500 Chevy D/A truck,,,they ARE also a very good choice...

BUT......a HDT for 16,000#...:h

You had better reread, Chevy is mentioned.

Get the 1 ton doolie. It will reduce belly fat, re-grow your hair and make your wife look 10 years younger.

GMC = Generic Made Chevrolet

See it wasn't left off. They just used the brand name product, not the generic.

Seems like everyone recommends a dually for stability. My rig is 14000 gross and 36' long. My srw Ram couldn't be any more stable. Passing 18 wheelers, twisty mountain roads etc. I have never wished I had bought a dually. I have enough trouble parking a srw. Why would you want to buy six tires when they need replacing.

The exception to this would be if your rig is so heavy that you need the weight carrying ability of four rear tires.

Fully Chipped that Cummins should pull the trailer and a couple of Oak trees. My STOCK 6.6 Duramax does just fine without the added expense and doesn't void the warranty by adding the chip. 397HP and 745 LBFT lets it do its thing fairly well thank you. My 5'er isn't 16K but gross it's just under 14K. SRW is fine for this but I agree a 1 ton dually is needed for anything larger. DEFINATELY go DIESEL. I don't think anyone makes a gas engine large enough for effective towing on a rig that large. The 8.1 492cu in GM is GONE. BTW -- Mallard -- NICE RIG!!

I could go on about my Dodge Ram 3500 diesel dually with the 6.7L Cummins with the exhaust brake that tows my 16.000lbs fiver with absolute ease but mostly

Look at the Ford F350 diesel, dually. My 5th wheel is 15,000 pounds, and my ford does a good job (single real wheels).
