Campground motorcycle restrictions?

Hello all - new member here. I'm on the verge of buying a 5th wheel TH and was told just today by a RV salesperson that I should verify how many campgrounds will allow motorcycles to be ridden to & from campsites. He says he has ran into several that forbid them inside the camping area.

My main reason for getting a TH is to take my Harley along with me and the wife as we tour. If that's not a practical expectation, I need to reconsider my RV choice.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Guess they get crossed off the list too. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is actually reasoning behind the bans at the MB CGs. Every year there are "Biker Rallys" 2 in fact, at MB. One a Harley Week, and the other a Crotch Rocket Rally over Memorial Day. Seems there has been some trouble during one of these rallys. So that is why the bans.

That was always my assumption as to why they do a ban. I'm happy with it.

I figured the same regarding Myrtle Beach CGs, and assume more of the same in any other venue that has occasional bike rallies. I've been to a few rallies and I know I wouldn't care to stay in a CG with many of the characters I've seen there. That said, it would be nice if the CG managers would simply limit the bike exclusions to the rally dates.

We were at Ocean Lakes last year. They require you to park the bike in a separate lot at the front unless you are gonna push it to your site, mind you this resort is HUGE! Not gonna happen. BUT...it was ok to have street rods in the resort with straight exhaust rumbling through and revving up all the time. That pissed me off!

Years ago before Harley's were really popular!!!!! I lived in an apartment complex and I was ask if I could push my bike to the street cuz I was waking up people. Note: My covered parking stall was way in the back I said No... not unless everyone else pushes their cars out too!

Nah, that's just an excuse. It's just easier to enact a total ban than to deal with the problem in real time. It's like banning alcohol because of some drunks. Some people cause trouble, so rather than actually dealing with it in a reasonable way, they ban what-ever-it-is. No smoking, no campfires, no RV's older than 10 years, etc.

Kind of the equivalent of giving that Porsche driver a speeding ticket simply because his car will exceed the speed limit, and he's more likely to do it than that old man in the Buick.

When I was motorcycle camping in the 70's I was turned away from a couple campground because I was on a motorcycle. They hadn't had any trouble, but hey, you just never know bout them mo'sycles.

Years ago we rode to Havasu to check out the London Bridge no place to camp if you had a mo'sycle

We have full-tied for 3 years and been in 30
States. Only one campground in MA would not allow mc's, BUT they had parking near the office where you could leave your bike.

I have been riding to or hauling in a Toy Hauler to campgrounds, state and national parks mostly with a few private parks for many years and have never had a problem with restrictions. And yes, I have a Harley.

I think Park owners as said are in areas where there may be large bike rally's where there could be potential problems and they just dont' want to deal with it.

I have never been disturbed by a Harley in a campground or park but I have been annoyed by screaming kids, barking dogs, loud generators, Idling diesels, loud boats and loud drunks..... Harley's... They are music to my ears......

I'm sitting right now at an AZ state park campground along the Colorado River near Parker. A few hours ago I saw a mature couple in a full dress bike joyriding around the park at low speeds, not making much noise.

Everything was fine until they decided to go out of the park and they turned the radio on the bike full blast so they could hear it with their helmets on while they were still in the park.

Not any worse than some nimrod firing up his diesel truck early in the morning and letting it sit there and make noise for 20 minutes and stink up the place while he gets his trailer ready to go.

And no, my Harley isn't very loud ...until I get on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Along those same lines some idiot runs his Class A diesel motor instead of his generator and think it's OK after quit hours. Needless to say I had to let him know what (quit hours) ~ meant in a loud way!!

I'd rather hear a motorcycle run, then a bunch of drunks any day of the week.

Yea, but don't use a generator as that will spoil the experience.
