Custom Toy Hauler for 7K Cargo

I am looking for a Toy Hauler that I can put my 5,000lb Jeep TJ & 900lb Harley Road Glide into. So I need 23-24' of cargo area and it has to be able to handle the weight which most toy haulers are not.

I have been talking with Dune Sport as they seem to be the only company who can make this type of trailer. Plus I am a disable veteran and a below the knee right leg amputee so Dune Sport also makes their trailers with a ADA bathroom.

If anyone has experiance with them I would love to hear about it or if you know of another manufacture who can build such a trailer please comment.

So a quick update,
Been talking with a ATC dealer just to see what they can do. Their new 5th wheel is a nice looking trailer and looks like it is well built. Will see where they come in on price.

Stopped by my local Sundowner dealer and talked with them and waiting to see what they come back with.

Also talked with Dune Sport and they are working on a floor plan and cost for one of their trailers. Was able to talk with someone who owns a Dune Sport and used it to haul his Jeep. He was happy with the construction and still has the trailer. Just swapped from the Jeep to a SXS.

You have a couple of options:

1) ATC's newest toy hauler 5th wheel. Estimated 12k hauling capacity.

2) ATC Quest living quarters (Although I'm not sure the jeep will fit height wise, can't find specs on the site)

3) Sundowner toy hauler - 2686GM (16' garage)

4) Sundowner crawlerhauler - 2486KM (18' open)

5) Double R builds custom toy haulers to your specs.

You didn't list www.dunesport.com in your list. I have looked at all these trailers except Double R. Looking at their spec's they only go up to a dual axle trailer with 14K GVWR and I have 7K of cargo not including water, fuel, pot& pans, household items, clothes and other such stuff.

1) Is nice but at the high end of what I want to spend.

2) Can't climb ladder to get into bed

3) 16' of garage isn't enough to load motorcycle and Jeep

4) Looked at them but found a defferent model. Waiting on dealer to get back with me.

5) May not allow enough cargo capacity

Yes if I go with an enclosed trailer this is something I will have to look at. I am hoping that I can get the open trailer from Sundowner. And some other features also. We will see what happens after I talk with the dealer today.

Dune Sport is my fall back trailer if Sundowner can't give me what I am looking for. And then if they don't pan out I can go back to building my own setup like I had before.

For some vehicles, you need an escape door on the side of the trailer. When I carry my Sonic, I can open the door enough to get in or out and my dune buggies have no doors.

Discovery,
I'll be honest that I have never loaded my Jeep into a enclosed trailer so have no idea what it will be like to get into and out of.

It's very tight.

I hauled my TJ in an 8.5 x 20 trailer. I didn't have much room to open the door and get out of the Jeep.

I am going in tomorrow and talk to my local dealer. They mainly sell horse trailers and such because I am in cattle country.
But they have had a few toy haulers and sold 2 Krawler Haulers recently.
So since they like you to deal with their dealers instead of the factory I will.

I know the sundowner folks can build anything desired. They are very can do from what I hear. Just look at used prices for some decade or more horse trailers. They hold up pretty well. Not like your typical RV.

Friend had Forest River add an axle to a 38 ft 5th toyhauler and carried his CJ in the back.Only problem was he could not load it with his rock crawler tires on .He had a set that he could drive around on and load with. When he was at a spot where he would be a couple days,he would change tires. He seemed to always have people around ready and willing to help out!!!! Had for 10 years.Bathroom might be able to get done also.

That sundowner is nice. Add 2' to the garage and put a side ramp and door for loading the bike. Could even do a rampage loader if you didn't mind losing the floor space. If you leave the floor clear becomes A nice enclosed patio for a rainy day. Side ramp would also allow you to leave the jeep on the trailer and still load/unload the Harley.

That is a GREAT idea, hadn't thought about that.

With a 6' garage have them put in a 4' door and then I could roll the bike right in and have a wheel chock on the other side.

Well it would of course be strapped down inside that cargo area. If I could get them to make the trailer 2' longer and add 2' to the cargo area I might be able to park the bike at an angle inside? Won't know until I try and right now I have to wait until spring to even mess with my bike.

I might be over thinking it but to park the bike inside the 4' garage get this.

Then I could roll the bike in sideways. Fire away with your thoughts.

I have the Harbor Freight version of that dolly I use on my 750 lb Kawasaki Concours in my home garage. I would not trust it in a moving vehicle but it works well at a sticks and bricks. I am not familiar with the other one you posted.
