we want a fifthwheel for vacations, more room. right know we have 1181 lance truck camper 2011, works ok for 2 people. on the fifthwheel we want the front living room.but we don't know what brands to look at.we need help. also I need to live in it in winter for work. thanks.

We have a Forest River Sandpiper 366 FL weighing in around 12600 with all tanks empty. Our 06' F350 6.0 average 11.2 MPG on our last pull of just over 200 miles with part of it through the hills of N.E. Alabama. Great floor plan but not sure how would do in long winters. Good luck.

You didn't say your budget the units talked about so far are good mid-price fiver, I would also add the Cardinal line with them.

You might want to look at used rigs and maybe get one that is designed for full timing if you need to live in it during the winter.

thanks I appreciate it. were going to keep our truck camper to. just want more room. I do have a question. my 2011 ram 3500 4x4 dually got about 9 to 11 mpg carring the 2011 lance to Pensacola fla. oh I forgot 6.7 diesel.

Don't know what to recommend on the 5th wheel but I can tell you this....keep the truck camper for those trips where you don't want to drag a big trailer around. We had 4 truck campers in a row and then on retirement decided to trade the truck camper for a 5th wheel. Oh boy was this a mistake!! We got nothing for it on a trade "because there is no demand for truck campers" and now we can't take the boat along and have to make two trips to get the boat. I have found that a truck camper allows you perfect freedom to go anywhere you want to go, park anywhere you want and have no threat of getting stuck in tight situations. Keep the truck camper and get the 5th wheel you want.

Also I have been looking for a decent used truck camper at a reasonable price but all the dealers want two prices for one "because it's a supply and demand type thing..few truck campers are available so the price is high." Try to figure this one out.

One type camper will not cover all situations. Keep the truck camper too!!
