Ford Trucks

Hi everyone, We currently pull our Jayco Fifth Wheel with a 1993 Silverado Duly one ton 454 and are going to finally update a bit and are looking for a used truck. We came across a nice looking 2015 Ford 250 super duty, 6.7 diesel. It only has about 4,200 miles on it which makes us nervous. I mean, great that there is not many miles on it but wondering why someone would get rid of a fairly new truck. Does anyone here own this truck or know anyone who does? We have only owned Chevy's and GMC's. Thank you for any replies.

Lot's of 1-3 year old trucks and cars on local dealers lots' I personally know people who got bit with the "gotta" have a diesel only to find they that they have overspent and don't understand the complexities. Also know some who bought the 6.0 only to discover their issues.
Read an article the last week or so that says one of the reasons auto sales are beginning to slip is because of the high number of people who overpaid and provided little down payment. Now upside down, some hugely, and are allowing them to be repossessed. Some have missed payments within a few months of buying. All makers, especially Chrysler, joined up with a finance group, one of many, that pushed the low/no down payments and long term deals. That group is now near bankrupt and one of the major sources of financing is drying up. I am not saying there are not other sources of financing but what I have described is a small piece of the pie.

Seems to me that the younger generation of "I want it and I want it now" are not worried to overspend and worry about debt later. They may purchase something and soon find that their craving is not satisfied so they go on another buying binge and when it comes time to pay they let the item be repossessed. The days of 20% down and 36 months have become 0% down, 75 months and no payments for 90 days. I wonder if anyone compiles a list of repossessed vehicles and how much the dealer/seller is on the hook for.

Unfortunately, this is at a Chevrolet dealership, so can't ask the previous owner.

Thank you all for your replies and opinions! It is appreciated!!

41 K for a '15 sounds high in my book seeing we are going into MY '18. Yes mileage maybe low, but price seems high. Back when I was looking for a new ride in Oct/Nov area of '14, local dealer had a '12 w/ 10,000 miles and asking low 40's. For about $5,000.00 more had a brand new truck, no miles and FULL warranty.

I bought a 2014 F-350 6.7L SRW that the dealer had used to run parts between dealerships. When the 2015 trucks came out he called to let me know they were selling the 2014 and using a 2015 for a parts truck.
He just called me the other day letting me know they are selling their 2016 parts truck.
There are low mileage trucks out there that are legit low mileage. Some aren't.

also note, a totally new body style just rolled out. That typically does damage to the previous body style truck prices.

as others have said there are a lot of circumstances that could be with that low of miles. I bought my used 2002 f-350 dually in 05 with 18000 miles and it is now 2017 and I have 36000 on her. they probably got to much truck for what they needed or could not afford those payments. that is why I keep my 2002. She is paid for.

Could be that the previous owner bought the truck before camper and realized not all 3/4 ton trucks can pull and stop a large rv. As been said check payload.

I bought my 2012 F-250 6.2 gasser with 25,000 miles and was able to get a Ford extended warranty. Was also a CPO. I've been happy. Had it for a year. Original owner put 5,000 miles per year on it at best.

I think you are being a little unfair. You can't blame Carfax for things that did not get reported, and they are very clear that not everything gets reported. You got burned by a used vehicle deal.

Not only is that truck still under warranty, you can still purchase a Ford extended warranty. Good idea to do so, just make sure it is the Ford warranty.

I think you have already gotten the best advice. Get an Oasis report and see its history! Friend bought a 2014 F250 powerstroke new and it lived at dealer. It did a regen every 15 mi and he finally traded it for a gasser. Dealer did take care of him financially so no loss.

Just ask the seller. It could have sat on the lot for a year before it sold. Then it might have been parked alot.
