Front end swing

Thinking of trading 05 2500 CC with 6.5' box for 3500 CC DRW with 8' box. DW is concerned about the front end swing with the longer truck on tight campground roads when backing in. I'm no physicist and can't answer her question. So that's why I'm posting here for any help and advice.
Thanks Mike.

We just sold a '99 F-250, CC shortbed, and we were always doing 3, 4, 10 point turns to turn that thing around. The turning radius on our new 2015 Chevy CC DWR 8 foot bed has an even smaller turning radius than the Ford had, and I've been surprised several times now when we were able to make a full u-turn with no backing. I'd check the turning radius stats for both of your trucks, you might be surprised.

As stated --- It's all relative to the turning radius of the truck to start with. Some of the new Ford cc LBs turn better then my 2500HD w/Ext cab. Generally-- The longer the wheelbase of the TV --- The more room it takes to make a turn.

The bed length is not the deciding factor the wheel base is and you are going to add approx. 18" of WB. Will it change the swing, a little. Night/Day difference, not really. It will actually make backing a little easier since it will slow down the TV to FW reaction time a little bit.

Just traded F250 for F350DRW long bed. Immediately left Texas Panhandle and left for Memphis Tenn. Really didn't matter where we stopped or parked in teen. we had no problems. dW drove more miles then me while traveling and we were fine. I was shocked at how short it turned when I needed to u turn in a Memphis teen. street, and made it without having to back up I was shocked because I had heard all the horror stories about Long bed truck. Truck drives like a charm.

Thats because you bought a Ford... Ever since the redesign of the front end, they turn much better than before. The F450 and 550 turn even better. Since 05 and up

ever look into buying used? There are some late models out there with low miles (i.e. still under warranty) that could save you a lot over a new price.

There are lot of us with long box crew cab duallys and they do take more room to turn. With that point made, take a look at them and you don't see them scratch up or dinged up anymore than the short bed, regular cab. You just have to be more aware. Add the 4 x 4 and the radius just got bigger too. Get what you need to tow and adjust to the conditions of that need.

X2. Go for it...you WILL adjust with little difference. While working as a professional truck driver I remember changing from a Freightliner Cabover tractor to a Peterbilt 379 Conventional with long nose and it was an easy adjustment.

I figure it's only 1.5' longer, I'm more worried about the "hips" than the swing, but the DW doesn't want to see the front of an $83k truck of in the rhubarb getting all scratched up.

The wheelbase of your new TV is probably longer than the old one. That will make more difference than the pin setting. I don't think it makes that much difference. You'll get used to it.

You will notice a big difference with the turning radius. Some times it takes 20 acres to turn those things around. ( OK very old song) Give Me Twenty Acres and I'll Turn That Thing Around"
