Not on the new ones. The 3500 actually has less leaf is the rear spring pack. The leafs however are thicker on the 3500. Hopefully others that are shopping will read this thread and buy the 3500. Trouble is 3500 SRW and not on many dealer lots. Zillions of 2500's everywhere you look.

I actually started to answer him on that one Chris, but seemed to be a moot point. There is a pretty big difference between the 2013 Ram 2500HD and the 2013 3500HD SRW Ram, but it would take a little research to understand it is quite a bit more than just an "overload spring" this time.
That sticker on the door jamb, means just a little more this time......

Your right, there is now a big difference between a 2500 and 3500. Biggest would be a different frame and of course about a $5k difference in price. No Aisian trans either on the 2500, and those sweet bigger axles and front end is much stouter. Power plants are equal.

sorry, I didn't think to provide more info. it is a 2013 ram 2500 crew cab short box. I suppose, since I am new to this I was just looking at the cummins and since we aren't getting a huge rig, a 2500 would do the trick. we did finally buy a 29 ft. holiday rambler savoy. a 2005 29 ft. 1 1/2 slide. the entertainmen center slides out, don't know if I like that too much but will see. we have looked at a couple hundred rigs and burned up lots of fuel looking for the right fit and finally found it we think.

I'd suggest that the primary difference between most 3/4 and 1-tons is you can't find a 3/4 ton dually.

Not every where. The Dodge dealer in the home town of Cummins has very few HD's of any size. Gotta go half way to Indy.

At my dealership, they have 17 2500HD's, (Cummins)...and 5 3500 Dually's....appears it's hard to find a 3500 SRW...don't think I've seen one yet....I mean I know they're out there and some have been purchased..just haven't "physically" seen any..

There are some like me that have owned both and will stick to the 3/4 ton. In my situation I'm well within my limits the load wouldnt even be enougn to sag to the overload spring. My pickups is only used about 40% of the time for pulling and I hated the ride of a 1ton the rest of the time. If the tires, axle brakes ect are the same and the overload spring isnt used there is absolutely no added safety to a 1ton.

Welcome and you wont regret going to a fifth wheel.

If people would give some more info they would be getting better and more answers.

You gave good info on the RV's but just saying "new dodge 2500 diesel does not tell the whole story".

You said new, it could be a 12 or 13. What year and is it an auto or stick or what gear ratio? They all make a big difference.

Also post your rig or rigs in your signature.

1. The OP didn't ask any *questions* !!.:S

2. What does it matter (now) what he should have done?.:S
(Various posts).
Apparently he has the truck - but not the trailer.

3. Obviously his thread/post is just newbie "trivia" - 'cause he hasn't bothered to return.
(Obviously - He wasn't looking for "answers").

Wish him good luck with his combo - and say "welcome"..:)

Hey "jbmoo" - good luck & welcome, LOL!

First congrats on your new truck. Second either of those two fivers you mentioned should be no problem for that truck. If you stay within the tow and payload limits of your truck you will not have an issue. I towed for many years with a 3/4 ton Dodge. Good luck.
