I set a 10 foot 2x4 on top of my tallest point (AC Unit) with a level on it to ensure it was level. I had my son-in-law measure from the bottom of the 2x4 to the ground, 12' 6".

Don't know.. When we bought ours, it had to go into dealers shop for a few minor things. I asked them to measure it and give me a good number. When we went to get it, there was a new sticker with permanent black numbers , and the word Height stuck on the speedometer where it couldn't be missed. Using that, we haven't had any problems.

A have a tool called a Compulevel that will give me a digital readout to within 1/8". Even though it would be easy to do I have never measured the height of my trailer. I just assume it is 13'-6" and react accordingly.

And just in case you should ever go to Canada; convert it to Meters and write that down too.

It is NOT a question of know the maximum allowed by law...it is a question of knowing YOUR maximum...

Point being it will not be higher than 13'-6". As the sign in your picture indicates 8' why would anyone take a possible up to 13'-6" and even try. Highways with clearances less than 15' are supposed to be posted as to height.

What the "experts do is to get up on the roof and from the top of the highest point, usually the AC unit is take a 4' or better yet a 6' level and set it on the AC unit hold it at "level". Have somebody on the ground take the tape measure and measure from that level to the ground and now you have a very accurate measurement. That's what was done with my unit last summer while at MOR Ryde having my suspension raised.

I'm lucky enough to have a barn I can park in. I stop with the front AC under the door frame, and measure from the door frame to the AC, then from the frame to the ground and subtract. If you can find something you can stop under and do the measurements, that's the most accurate way to measure. Mine is 12' 10-1/4".
