Huge sites, great beach, gated.

Huntington beach is nice as well. If you need it, Huntington Beach is one of the few state parks that have a handful of sites with sewer connections. I think Myrtle Beach SP has sewer also. If you go a little south into Charleston, James Island County Park is a great place to stay with full hook-ups. If you have kids, JICP has a water park and a splash pad. Not sure if it is still open in September though. If you want to do the tourist thing, they have a shuttle that runs into downtown Charleston. Once downtown, you can ride the trolley for free. You can drive, parking in the downtown area can be a pain sometimes

If it matters, the sites on the beach loops are 30Amp, the forest is 50Amp. Lots of great restaurants in the area as well!!

We have stayed in Hunting Isl. RV park but a long time ago. It is a great place and has all of the activities mentioned by others.
My brother lives on Fripp Isl, the next island in the string, so we stayed on Hunting while visiting.
I do remember the bugs though.

Book early because Hunting Island is the most popular SP in SC. Also, early bookers get the sites close to the beach. We were interested to learn last winter while there for two nights that they have a discounted rate for longer term stays in that season.

Wonderful walk to the lighthouse. Close to Beaufort for day trips. Great shrimp off the boats nearby a la Forrest Gump.

We had a double rainbow over the beach as the day ended. I love the place, going back in 2014.

"wife likes to collect shells"....I know it's not South Carolina, but Sanibel Island, off Ft Myers, FL is known far and wide as a shell collectors paradise....

We have camped there 3 times and enjoyed it. The beach has a very gentle slope and the water is not ruff at all. The campground has two sections and we have always stayed in the beach loop. The sites in the beach loop are well defined like they are in the "other" section. However, the bugs in the "other" section are terrible. The area is remote and quiet with a lot of nice scenery. I think you would enjoy it. There is also a light house to view that has been moved several times in its life time. Hunting Island is one of the fastest eroding islands in the U.S. Enjoy! Phillip

YES --The other section, does have a lot of bugs, due to being in the woods, near some swamp'ish land. Just a heads up, the beach loop, more open and has a beach breeze.

Excellent campground.

We walked on beach from Lighthouse and campground, lots of not crowded beach for shell collecting, fishing, relaxing.

Saw several surf fishing.

There is some Mtn Bike paths for biking, along with the campground roads.

Down the road we launched our Kayaks, and saw dolphins in the inlet!

Hunting Island is a great spot. Good hiking, fishing and miles of beaches to fish and ride your bikes.

One of our favorite campgrounds.
