larger brakes for 6k axles?

Besides changing over to discs, does anyone know of a little larger brake set up than the standard 12x2 for the 6k axle. I've looked at E-trailer and others but anything that I've found larger requires a 7/8/9k axle.

I'm putting a Pacbrake on my '02 F-250 PSD so I may not need a larger brake...but it's always nice to have them, thanks........Dave

What brand of axles do you have? How many lugs are on each wheel? Size of wheels?
That would make a difference of what is available.

Don't rely on your PacBrake, they DO help you slow down but they don't STOP you!

Call Dexter and see what they can do for you.

Aren't 6K axles 12 x 2 Brakes- I've never seen an upgrade, nor a larger magnet. Please inform me.

I believe the next step up would be 3 3/8 x 12 1/4. New backing plate, new drum and magnets, not cheap.

I installed the 7,000# brakes on my 6,000# axles. They are supposed to have larger magnets and possibly larger shoes? They bolted right on. I think my biggest brake improvement came after I adjusted the brakes then burnished them in according to the Dexter instructions, then adjusted them again. I can now lock up my brakes on a gravel road which I could never do before...
