I've alway use one and they last forever with one exception. If I need to take my fiver into a dealer and they move it around in their yard when I get it back the lube plate keeps falling off. The figures that hold it onto the pin are bent and will not stay on the. The last time was at a camping world and I checked it when we got it back and sure enough it had come off and they had put it back on. When I told them about they had bent the figures they said it came in that way and I needed to replace it. Seem funny it only happens when I take it to a dealer.

I don't really see any purpose, except to keep it from getting scratched during hook-up. No pivot is taking place on the hitch.

I am fairly new to the 5th Wheel World. This one was delivered for us. I have never towed one. What Part of the Hich is the Pin?

The pin is the the round part at the lowest point of the pin box (this being the major part of the picture).
You need to apply a small amount of grease to the area of reduced diameter of the pin, this is where the jaws grip the pin.

The first one that I bought fell off once, but I just picked it back up and put it on and it stayed there until I sold the FW. The second one was put on the FW when we bought it and hasn't fallen off yet, but it's only been a little over two years. The first one was used for 18 years without falling off.

I found the hitch pin lube plate to be a PITA so I had a better solution installed on the hitch. Works great and never falls off.

Just curious, but how is something that you put on once (that takes a few seconds to pop over the pin) and forget, a PITA?

Maybe if you only use the trailer occasionally they work OK but if you use it often you will find that the disk falls off and the fingers have to be hammered to elongate them so the disk stays in place. The disk also often gets caught between the hitch and the pin and crushes it. There OK for what you pay for them but far from perfect.

That hasn't been my experience. My has been put it on and forget it, except for lubing the pin.

Just went to DRW long bed. Bought a B&W to replace my Pullright SG. First thing I did was get one of the discs. Use to use them all the time. They work.
