This was posted August 8th....there were some suggestions and also some questions as to the OP's budget, and more importantly, what Tow Vehicle will they use to tow with. I would say until one finds out their budget range and what they're going to tow their future 5er with, it's kind of hard to suggest what 5er they may want to look at.

We owned a Mobile Suite CK3 for nine years but wanted something with a king bed and double refrig so just boiught a new Montana 3582. 40K cheaper and cannot tell that much difference. M.S. is heavier and very well built no doubt, but Montana is #1 in sales for 11 years they say and they have some nice features.

This seems to be a very common question around here. The answer is you really need to figure out your budget. That will narrow your choices somewhat. This forum can help, but more info....

IMO New Horizons is the best, but then a new unit will cost over $100,000.

Most bang for the buck is another matter.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

It would be helpful if one had an idea of what your budget is and go from there. Hard to tell you to buy a Mobile Suites, Teton, Carriage, Excel and on and we have no clue what you plan on spending for your new 5er.

What you'll normally see is those that own a certain brand will recommend their own 5er...nothing wrong with that, I love mine and after 6 yrs, it still looks great and is a quality unit, but again, we have no idea what your budget is.

This topic can be searched on this forum and you will have day's and day's of reading material on which is best and on...All have their good and bad, again, you'll find this out by researching the topic, again, on this forum.

The other side of the coin is, "What are you going to tow with?". Most of the "more expensive" 5er's are also heavy....Thus, you would need a bigger truck, ie 1 ton SRW or 1 ton Dually to tow some that may be mentioned on this thread.

So, two things would help us to help you in your search. What is your budget for the new/used higher end 5er and what do you plan on towing it with...both answers will tell us better how to deliver information to you...:)

There are many good ones, Montana, Jayco, Mobile Suits, Excel and many more. Be advised, ALL brands have their problems. You are likely to have issues with any new unit. A two or three year old unit most likely has these problems worked out and will be more trouble free.
