Mice!!!! Again!!!!

Ok guys,
We had a mouse infestation earlier this spring. Cleaned up the mess and put out poison. Well they ate all the poison from 2 of the 5 plates I put around the fiver. So I put out more. Doesn't look like they ate any more this time.
I have started looking for their access holes. I have found two likely points of entry. One I am reasonably sure how to seal the other I am not so sure of.

First is this one which I will use steel wool and spray foam sealant.



This one I am not so sure about. I believe it is an outside air inlet for the furnace.




I was thinking of getting one of the screens that you put over a furnace exhaust vent. I am open to suggestions if anyone has them. Thanks, John

We had rats in the outside compartments of our fiver a little over a year ago. They got into the battery compartment and the shell over the pin and did a lot of wire damage. We put out traps, poison, and caught them all, it appears. We also put out cotton balls with mint and moth balls to help keep them away. Over a period of time, we caught them all and haven't had an issue since, thank goodness (knock on wood!). After the repairs, we covered up all the openings with wire netting. We also removed all of the bushes they had made their home in when we first moved in to this house.

ok, first battle with the mice..

• closed all the openings (I think)
  
• set snap & sticky traps (9 overall), caught 1 monday night, snap
  
• sprayed outside ground touches (tires, jacks, cord) with liquid fence (sure stinks wet)
  
• added peppermint oil cotton balls.

no nibbles at the traps since monday night. no new signs of intruders.

in my metal shop I have caught 1 mouse a day.

how long do you wait, til you think you have eliminated the problem and feel confident these tactics work?

A friend who's having mouse problems at his house was recommended to try Just One Bite. Not cheap, but cheaper than having them overrun and eat up your RV.

Ok I took some pics of what I did to try and prevent the mice from getting in.

This is an air inlet vent from the furnace. I first covered it with some hardware cloth.



Then I sprayed the expanding foam sealant around it.



I also sprayed the sealer around the wires that went through the floor. But I forgot to take pics of that.
Finally, the wife and I went to the local health food store and purchased a bottle of pure peppermint oil. We then placed several drops on some cotton balls and placed about 8-10 around the 5er. If nothing else it is going to smell great inside!!!! Thanks all, John

CDC - Hantavirus

From the CDC site:
"The hantaviruses that cause HPS in the US are not known to be transmitted by any types of animals other than certain species of rodents."..:(
And - "dogs and cats are *not* known to carry hantavirus."

Oh yeah - the stats:
Through Dec 31, 2013 - 637 HPS cases have been reported in the US.

36% of all cases have resulted in DEATH.

WAR is a good plan!..;)
