Morryde Step Above

For those that actually have the Step Above, what are your thoughts on it now that you have used it? I know the negatives of water on step, dirt when putting up, maybe swing out when stopping in rest area. But have you had any other issues with it? Would you like to go back to the regular fold up steps?

I still want to know how you get into your rig with these stupid steps, while in storage, without having to move it far enough to get the steps down? Maybe the mfrs should put the door in the far a$$-end or have an attic ladder pull-down in the front?

We have the MORryde steps on our Winnebago 2250DS and love em. Here are a few photos.

I don't have them but I will likely end up with them. Only because the manufacturers are forcing them on us. With this style of step they have more options for door location since they do not have to build a box below floor level to store the steps. They can now put the steps above the axles. Which makes it impossible to replace them with the Torklift steps because there is now no box to stow the Torklift steps in.

My concern was the situation where you can not get the steps down level due to terrain. If you can not fully deploy the steps, you can not close the door.

I never considered the MorRyde steps can have a significant impact on door location. Just when I thought the upgraded steps were designed with the RV'er in mind.
I find out these new steps can benefit the manufacturer's as well

Friends of mine ended up in this exact situation for an overnight stop and had to pull the steps in while they were inside. I'm still not quite sure how they did it.

Torklift has the GlowStep Up-rising steps that are the answer vs. the MorRyde and Lippert solid steps:

We have this step and like it very much, rock solid. Easy out and easy in with no dirt in the trailer.

Ditto this.

Friends of mine posted to Facebook on Friday or Saturday night and showed a picture of the inside of their rig with the steps in the door. They said that the site was so unlevel, they couldn't get the steps deployed properly for an overnight stop and just gave up.

Steps you can't always use are absolutely worthless.

I see the new step design but wouldn't change what we have on our alpenlite from the factory. My opinon counts for me. Changes can be a good thing at times.

We’ve had them for over a year now. I have no trouble deploying them in the semi area at rest stops. While the take up a little more space when out, we’ve had no gripes. I use a small hand broom to clean them off and as for water, very little pools inside because I don’t stow them while it’s raining cats and dogs.
