Apparently the OP isn't talking. I thought this was about a slideout.

The OP's topic "Need no sissy slider" indicated to me that he is referencing the window on the tow vehicle.
Most of the replies are talking about different issues.:S

After starting out towing a 5th, with an 8' bed, my next truck had a 6'9" bed. I had a neighbor a couple blocks from me, with same new truck as mine, with standard FW hitch. Since I was going to install my old hitch, in my new truck, I went to his house with my tape measure, to see how close to cab his pin center was. It was 37"s, and he said "no problem, even in tight backing".

Our hitches were not the same, but both non-sliders. Mine installed, was 39"s from cab, so must be good, two more inches clearance than his. Couple days later he drove by, cardboard & plastic for a rear window. I got to say, it made me watch closely, for a long while. However that was 1999, and now, several FWs, several new trucks later, all with non-slider, I have never had an issue, or site I could not get into.

Current 5th, has rounded front, and hitch pin center is at 40.5"s behind cab. I still remain aware, if backing tight, but I'd never twist my trailer to 90 degrees, even if I could.

Most likely referring to a slider hitch, or lack of one caused the rear window of the tow vehicle to beak due to the corner of the 5th wheel impacting with the rear of truck cab.

A slider hitch will allow for sharp turns by sliding the pin backwards giving the nose of the 5th wheel trailer more room to turn. Posted in the 5th wheel forum, which gives it away.

When my hitchhiker was only a couple years old, we came home from shopping and the large rear picture window had shattered into thousands of small crystals. Saw no evidence of impact, neighbors said there was none.

We also have a HitchHiker II. This exact same thing happened to us. It was not as new as you describe yours to be, but everything else is exactly the same. Since we were at home and the trailer was sitting in our shelter (open on back and side), we took it immediately to have the large window replaced. At the time we honestly believed that it was the result of vandalism we reported it to the police and filed on our insurance which paid for replacement.

In light of your experience I am now inclined to believe it was some kind of spontaneous event. Our HitchHiker is a 32.5 UKTG 2007 model.

When my hitchhiker was only a couple years old, we came home from shopping and the large rear picture window had shattered into thousands of small crystals. Saw no evidence of impact, neighbors said there was none. I think the glass was manufactured imperfectly, like those autos with exaggerated curve rear windows and windshields. A lot of them just emploded into pieces. Was driving a 1960 chevy PU when the windshield went that way. Sounded like a shotgun went off inside the cab. Nearly wrecked it; laundry needed as well. Some kind of internal stresses; they apparently worked it out in a couple of years or so.

And yes, I had to jury rig a sheet of plywood until my insurance company sent a new window. HH said, no, not our fault. Ha! Drove from RGV to Phoenix and plywood worked great ---- sealed it w/foam rubber.

It's a good bet although a stone from a passing truck could be the culprit. I have had that happen, needed a change of laundry when I got stopped.

So you assume the trailer punched out the window? There's no other explanation?
