Anybody know what would cause the 12 volt lights to start oscillating?

Around 2007 on the way into Death Valley we were camping with friends in a new Monaco that was doing exactly what you describe; generator on with lots of lights, "oscillating" somewhere around 30-60 sec (don't remember), dim, bright, dim.. It turned out to be an under-rated auto-reset circuit breaker between the batteries and the charger.. I think it was a 40A breaker on a 60A charger that was simply too small. A trip to NAPA fixed the problem.

Mebbe you have something similar...

When our convertor went out last season the lights (including the refrigerator light) started oscillating along with the furnace blower, eventually nothing on 12V would work. We bought a replacement on Amazon for a couple hundred bucks and swapped it right out, problem fixed!
