Question about winterizing with my pump ?

I bought the Camco RV winterizing kit and watched enough Youtube videos I am confident about doing the winterization myself.

I looked at my pump on the weekend just to make sure in a month or so when Im ready we are good to go and on the inlet side there is a large clear plastic ball threaded over that side. The diameter of the thread looks like it will fit the Camco plastic adapter and valve but Im just not sure. Has anyone seen this type of pump piece I have and any idea with the winterizing kit will work ok ?

Here is my pump

My idea is the clear thingy with the ball is some kind of back-flow preventer. Just make sure the arrows are in the right direction and no problem. Glad you got it done.

I just installed that kit today. Works very well. My kit the arrow is pointing away from the pump & don't over tighten the plastic coupler. It took no time at all. Good luck.

my boy had water pressure issues and bought a new put when we went to install it we first removed the round ball and its filter was plugged, we cleaned it and he brought the new pump back.

Isn't that a check valve?

If that is just a filter, I would take it out and throw it away while installing the kit. If you need a filter, get one of the small home filters at Home Depot and use it in your water line. Or, get one of the in-fine filters at Walmart and replace it every year when you de-winterize. If it is a backflow valve, make sure you get antifreeze in it or expect to replace it.

When I was in Co, I blew the lines out and stored the pump in the garage. I never had an rv with that plastic filter and never needed one. I've seen water damage in 2 friends RVs from those things cracking. Craig

Assuming that the part is an intake filter, the kit will go between it and the pump. After bypassing and draining the water heater, put the hose end into a bottle of antifreeze, turn valve to that side, an use the pump to get antifreeze to all your faucets. be sure to do the toilet, and toilet sprayer if you have one. Also the outside shower if there is one. Locate your low-point drains, and open them till they run pink also. I use about 1 3/4 gallons to fill all the lines. use whatever you have left to fill drain traps, wnatever runs into your waste tanks won't hurt. Some folks quit running as soon as pink comes out of the faucet, not thinking that there is untreated water in the drain lines also.

I thought that ALL pumps came with a way that you could winterize your unit without adding anything to it. There should be a shut off valve located at the base of this open ended tube. This valve is closed during everyday use, and only opened when you want to winterize your RV. Winterizing your unit should take less than 30 minutes, but it will probably take you longer the first time as you are not familiar with all of the drain valves.
In the picture, i can see a plastic handle that opens and closes one of your water lines. If you know anyone who has an RV, they could help you locate and ID all of your lines.

Sould be a good fit.
I am guessing the T fitting goes between the filter and pump.
You may have to loosen the pump to allow turning the T fitting on.
