RAM 2500 Hitch

Bought a new 2014 a week ago and the found out that neither pullright nor Demco was planning on making their under the bed hitch mount systems for the auto sliders - major bummer. Dealer said they didn't think they could add the 5th wheel prep package afterwards - really bummed. I persisted and found a parts guy that really dug and the parts ARE available and were installed today after the service manager pulled out most of his hair thinking it was going to be a huge event.

Bottom line is the prep "Pucks" are available after market and can be installed - now if only the picture frame part wasn't back ordered everywhere in the US for 2-4 weeks! got the pucks, got the new pullrite auto slider just need the part to marry the two together.

The Ram GN/5er prep package is different than the Ford's. B&W make a hitch that will fit in the 4 puck holes along with several other hitches....I have the Mopar picture frame adapter installed with a Reese 20K signature hitch mounted to it... I have almost 6" of space between bedrails and bottom of 5er when setting on the hitch...

In process of selling picture frame adapter and hitch to possibly go with the B&W or something else...or keep what I have...can't make up my mind:)

I used a Pullright SG for a lot of years. Type that used slip plate. I loved the hitch, but when I bought the SRW F350 I no longer had a need for a SG. Planned on buying the Pull right non slider but began to see that the B&W was less money. My truck has the puck system, was shocked to see that Dodge has a different puck system, and took about 30 minutes to put B&W together and install. What I really like the B&W takes up very little bed space. I didn't realize until I saw how much space the hitch took up in the ram. Part of the difference between auto sliders and non sliders. After about 11 years of towing 5ths. now I will not go back to a short bed.
I do like the setup in the ram above, but just have little bed left.

Coupe of more questions. Could be the angle of the picture but it looks like the hitch is above the top of the bed rails? I need my tonneau cove the be able to close with the hitch in the bed.

Also where is the pin in relation to the rear axle when straight? Ahead if it a little I am hoping.

Yes a measurement from the bed to the top of hitch plate would tell you , but I doubt it would interfere with the tonneau cover.

I am also wondering about height because I don't think I have anymore adjustment in my 5ver. So is the new hitch is higher then my old the 5ver will be noose high.

I had this company install my 15k SuperGlide in my 2014 3500 Ram. http://www.hitchcorner.com/
They used my industry standard rails with Curt no drill brackets. Its very clean and tight. Using these rails saved money and kept the height down. I still have 7-8 inches of clearance between bed and 5er. The 3500 is tall in the rear. Couple inches taller than my previous F350 (2010-so glad it is gone, blew 3 motors!).

I love my SuperGlide. Garysol, that is a great idea to get an atv winch!!! I am always calling a couple of buddies in the late fall and early spring to assist with taking it in and out.

Any chance on getting a measurement from the bed surface to the top of the hitch? I am going from a 2008 Ram and ordering a 2015 with the hitch prep, seems the hitches will be getting taller with the extra frame. Also currently have a Highjacker autoslide but am considering the Super Glide this time around.

For the 2500 under mount hitch did the parts guy find the prep package part number for a 2014 2500 or did he dig up all the parts that would have been installed at the factory for you to install. Do you have the part numbers? I have a 2014 and would like to install the factory fifth wheel hitch system.
Thanks,

haven't hooked up yet - next weekend - i am sure in the long run I will need to lift the trailer but every little bit helps. I also plan on putting a bakflip f1 on it so it will help with that too

I think it is an 1" or 1*1/2 " difference on the lower profile then the standard feet on the SuperGlide. Thats the only drawback to the SuperGlide not a whole lot of height adjustments, then you stack these higher picture frames under them, and it makes these even worse. I know I have the same situation with my new Ram, but fortunately the Reese sliding hitches do have a little more height adjustment.
