Short Bed Dually

I have a 2012 Dodge Mega Cab Dually with a short box. I have been told that I will have to have a special spendy hitch installed. Is this the case. I am purchasing a 2009 Cyclone 3912. Will this truck work. This TH is 41'. Rookie.

One other option is since you are getting a Cyclone anyway, consider the 300C. Cyclone 300C I have the sister unit, the Road Warrior 30C and a short bed Ford. The nose of the trailer is made specifically for a short bed and works as advertised....

i have a super glide and like it. the only thing is with my new th it has a air ride hitch. so its low and long in the bed and if i turn hard it hits the bed rails. i just got the lift kit for the hitch and haven't installed it yet.
also i would recommend getting the larger hitch of your choice. i didn't the with my first time and had to rebuy a larger 1 and cost alot more money.

not only the hitch but with the pin that far back will will want airbags. With my long bed I have the pin 4" front of axle center line. Makes for a better/safer ride down the hwy. I have a slider but only because I bought one from a friend that sold his trailer & got a camper instead. A 16K Reese used 6 times & paid $350 for it.

Superglides too. I leave mine hooked up and use the landing gear. I just let it hang for a few days as needed.

Mine comes out pretty easy also, hook up a come-a-long, pull the pins and it's out. No lifting involved.

The auto slides are indeed heavy. My Demco is in the neighborhood of 350lbs. I use an engine hoist to get it in and out of the truck bed.

I have a manual slide, used it once or twice.

My advice is that if you are pretty sure you will need a slider for regular driving/parking then get the auto slider. Otherwise get the manual and then you know its there for emergencies.

One other consideration to all those saying, "money well spent, etc." remember that the auto slider hitches are HEAVY! If you need to take the hitch out when not towing it will take two strong people or you have to take it out in sections.

Too bad your not nearer to Alabama, I have a Superglide in great shape for sale in my garage.

There is no beating the insurance you gain by having the auto slider. As was mentioned, it only takes one mistake and the body work will more than pay for the hitch!

Short bed F250 and had a slider hitch,messed turn-off to campsite and went to turn around.I had never used the slider,it always was close,but took it slow.Just so happens the DOT had sprayed the side of the road with new seed and water...Boy did it jackknife in a hurry and then went off camber...POP, back window gone and just the first day of a week traveling and camping.GET the auto slider if you can,cause you never know..Moved to long bed TV and different TH.

Have a slider and I used it every trip. Then I read here how in most situations people use the slider when they do NOT need to. Found that to be the case and I haven't slid the hitch in years. As stated previously though it is nice to know it's there just in case.
