Who knows if you tried to wave him down, he might of sped up and made things worse as well.

I see nothing wrong with what you did.

You did exactly the correct thing by focusing #1 on the safety of you and your family and your rig. I have been behind a wildly swaying trailer setup and had my wife call police but after I was well away from it.

Yeah - *nobody* ever vents or posts rants on here, ROTFL

But - you just go back and edit it down to nothing but a dot, or say "deleted - 'cause newbie 'psford' wasn't happy"..:R

Then just - all the replies remain..:B

I might have tried to wave him down as he sped by and gave him a quick look behind you yell. Probably would not have worked anyway. People like that are in their own mind set and it doesn't include commonsense. I tow triples in CA, boat behind my fifth wheel, and I also installed a rear camera on my fifth wheel so I can see my boat. I always travel the speed limit as I know the CHP keeps an eye out for the unusual. No hurry, I'm retired!

I gave you wide berth... the Granny looking thru the steering wheel
did not. Navigating the Phoenix metroplex is tough enough...your

your towed trailer.

Just curious, was there no way you could motioned to him, or waved , whatever to maybe get him to pull over to tell him. Its sounds like it needed immediate attention , not a post on a forum hours or days later. From the sounds of it somebody needed to do SOMETHING !!!!!

See it all the time.

I was just glad I was only 'parked' next to this guy and not on the road with him. The tire roll on this set up had to be a sight to see running down the road. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Matt,

I had a similar case of dumb-ass ...involved me renting a
U-Haul tow dolly to get my Pathfinder from Arizona to Texas...
behind a Nissan extended cab pick-up. (you see where this is going !).

Suffice to say , I had no idea what I was doing, come out
looking bad in the end so that's all I'll share...:S

Since that experience... I always give any "U-Haul" set-up a
very wide berth.

Lyle,

Good idea. I didn't even think of it...just wanted to get
around him (and see what he was pulling it with ! Ha !).

..this was southbound between McDowell and the 202... making
it worse , as the area is under construction with lane limitations.

Will try to remember next time...but my Iphone skillset stinks ! so
that may be an issue in itself.

Charles, if you weren't alone, why not snap some pics or vids on your phone, then call 911? Were it that bad, I certainly would have, and have done so. Last time I did this, was to report a car with a right rear wheel that was running at about 30 degrees off vertical. As I was on the phone with DPS, the stupid girl driving managed to roll the car about 100 yards in front of me and slid across an on-ramp and clear off the right side of the freeway (NB on the Loop 101 & McDonald at about 7 AM, as it happens). Didn't hit anybody, but it was a close thing.

I similar thing happened to a friend of mine when thre boat came unhitched and was on the safty chains behind the 5er. He said he could not even tell the boat was moving around. Luckily the rest of the family was in a mini van behind and was able to get in front of him and get the rig stopped before any damage or injury.
