Toilet Seal Lubricant?

Inside the bowl of our toilet, at where the drail seals, there's a a black gasket that is always exposed to leftover water. once the water is removed or it evaporates, the seal looks really dry.

Is there any special lubricant we should be putting on this while in storage?

This is what I use. I bought it at my pool supply store. After years of a leaking toilet, it now holds water again, and then my dw found the seal cleaning toll that came with the trailer. Well, at any rate, it now holds water again.

Fill the bowl at least 1/2 way with water and close the lid and it should take a long time to evaporate. Key is to keep it under water.

I did not read all reply's yet, but I kept water in my toilet, and left lid closed, came to find when I opened it there was mold and mildew on lid, toilet seat and bowl, and the underneath of the lid was soaked with moisture, just like a pot lid when it has been steaming, so now I leave lid up and that way moisture gets out and hopefully does not cause problems.

I also use plumber's grease which is a silicone grease.

I put on the latex gloves and clean the seal real well, not only what you can see but the part of it that is not visible. I use silicon faucet grease giving the seal and whatever contacts the seal a good coat top and bottom. Most everything else mentioned here has been good advice.

We have put plastic wrap over the toilet to seal it in. That keeps the water in the bowl from evaporating. We have done this in both our home and our RV.

Get a Blue Streak. Pretty blue water and no more chemicals, lube, odor, you name it.

I also use silicone faucet lube on the toilet seal. It usually lasts a week with constant use. Purchased at Lowes. There are different grades of lube available. Cant say what is best though.

I use the Plumbers Grease, also put in the seal where the blade passes after cleaning the path.

This is what we use.

Our bowl was not holding water. After putting Plumbers Grease on there...it stopped the leak and has been holding water.

2x agree!

Throughout the year, my toilet seal begins to stick and leaks. I have found a bit of vegetable oil (with the bowl empty) in the bottom, move the slide a couple times, and then resume use, will help the seal during use. For winter, the oil, or olive oil trick works very well too.
