What is this wire?

No power to fan over stove. Appears that power stops at this device. What is it?

For DC circuits Red is positive and Black or White is negative

Also the standard wire colors for DC circuits is blackis positive and white is negative or ground

Yep; that is exactly wrong. I lifted it verbatim from a dryer repair website, hence the quotes. My bad.
The point, though, is that testing for continuity would answer the question, and thermal fuses are cheap.

Correct. If it reads infinity it is open, hence no current flow. A good fuse should read at or near zero ohms. I suspect SailingOn just misspoke.

Doesn't an infinity resistance reading across a fuse indicate an open or blown fuse?

That is what went on mine, just bypassed it, and eventually sold the unit, newer unit failed too, but on it I bought a whole new fan motor assy, kept the old one and got a noisy motor from a guy at work that still has a good fuse, so will use it to make my old one good again for a spare.

Put a jumper wire across the fuse to check it.

It's a thermal fuse. It's there so that if you have a fire on the stove and the fan is running, it will quickly open the fuse and stop the fan from making things worse.
You could bypass it or get a new one at Radio Shack.
