Which 5th wheel hitch do you recommend?

Hello to all I'm planing on up grading to a Voltage 3800 from a tag behind trailer. Therefor I will be needing to buy a 5th wheel hitch, but whice one to go with is the question…
I currently have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 Diesel 4x4 4 door long bed Dually. The gcwr is 23500 lbs and the Voltage is :

Unloaded Weight 15,060
Hitch Weight 3,463
Cargo Capacity 3,940

I was thinking of going with the: COMPANION™ - 5TH WHEEL HITCH 20k RVK3500
What are your thought or suggestions?

BD3 is air and has the true Holland Binkley head ensuring a safe lock. Imagine that? The best of both worlds here and easily comes completely out too!

Another B&W Companion fan here. I went from a 16k Reese to the B&W and the ride is much better from start to stop.

If you want to be able to remove the hitch and have a clear bed the B&W is good for that. The latching method and construction is tops with 1" thick fully enclosing jaws.

With the handle closed and locked a look to see the jaws around the kingpin there in no question if you are locked or not. Very split quiet towing experience.

Compare them all side by side and I am confident you will choose a B&W.

The best hitch you could ever want would be an Air Ride Hitch. It eliminates all of the shock that is transferred to the Tow Vehicle and makes your trip a lot less stressful.
I would recommend you take a look at Trail Air - Air Ride Hitch or Air Safe -- Air Ride Hitch.

Your are going to pay more but honestly -- you get what you pay for.

I have had the Air Safe 25K Hitch for 7 years and it is without a doubt the best money I have ever spent.

Don't kid yourself.

Thoughts:
NOT the weight police...but you might want to consider an MDT or even better an HDT *before* you buy the hitch.

Check Escapees forums for MDT & HDT.

Other than that......how many replies (regarding whatever brand) does it take to indicate - "That's the one"??..:@

Suggestions:
Try your Q on the toy hauler forum.
Lots of folks with long/heavy 5ths due to the "toys".

Mine is old enough it was likely made in the USA, 16K twin jaw. Drove over 20 miles with the hitch NOT locked, didn't drop the 5er, as the design prevents that.

B&W is a great hitch also, but, I just don't like the jaws openiong behind the pin.

We have a Hensley BD3 TrailerSaver with air bags. Have never had any other make. Had a Hensley Arrow for our previous trailer and when we got the fifth wheel, we traded in the Arrow for the BD3. It comes completely out of the bed easily including the adaptor leaving a completely flat bed area. Not to mention no chucking and a smooth tow.

My vote goes to the Companion also. Changed from a Reese 16k to the Companion and wow what a difference.

You might be over the max weight of the truck. If you load up the fifth wheel it weighs 19K. So your pickup cannot weigh over 4500 lbs. which it probably weighs around 7 or 8K. Might want to weigh it for sure. Our 6.0 04 ford weighs in at 8K on certified scales.

Our last hitch was a B&W, it was a good hitch, and we moved up to a Trailer Saver air hitch and it’s a dream. Our road system can sure beat up a trailer and truck. We improved the suspension on the trailer to a MOR/ryde IS and changed the hitch. We do put on 10-15,000 miles a year on our trailer and for us it’s a good investment.
