Which battery to buy

It's time to replace the battery in my camper. It's a 2009 Sierra by Forest River. What's the best route to go? Regular car battery, deep cycle? What size? How many amps? Or should I just put the same as what's in there now? By the way not sure what's in there. Plan on taking the battery out tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for the replies

Generally, no. Don't confuse AGMs with gel cells which do require different charge settings wet cells & AGMs.

I have an AGM, a case size 4D. I also have a programmable inverter/charger with charge settings to suit the 4D battery. It is entering its 8th year of service.

It depends on the converter you have. Mine works on either. Look up the model of your converter and see what the mfg says.

Went with the Duracell from Sam's Club.
It seems to do what I need it to.

Exide deep cycle at the tractor store. $89 cheap. We'll see how long it last.

I would consider replacing it with the same time exact type of Battery that was in there originally. After all, it has lasted eight Years.
God Bless!

As many deep cycle amps as can be put into battery compartment. Might be only enough room for a couple group 24s. Maybe enough room for a pair of group 27s, even group 31s. You could even go the route of a single 4D or 8D.

Lots of options but the more amps the better prepared you are for dry camping.

Duracell Ultra Deep Cycle Marine & RV group 31. A true deep cell and pretty heavy at over 60#. Ideal for rv's.

True deep-cycle 12v batteries are pretty rare. Much, much easier to go with 2 6v golf cart batteries.

True and true ! GC batteries are very cost effective.

Probably the BEST 12V, deep cycle battery for an RV is the Trojan T1275. If you have the space for an over sized battery the Trojan J200-RE is excellent.

Definitely do not get a starting (cranking) battery. Deep cycle is best. Try to get a larger size then Grp 24. I got a GRP 27 Everstart at Walmart.
