I am going to tell you the story of a padlocked dealer (it may explain the padlock)
My wife had a Mercury Tracer (AKA Ford Escort with a new paint job) and since the FORD dealer was walking distance that's were I took it for a tune up. THey did half the job and it still ran rough so I ask 'em to diagnose
They diagnosed a leaking fuel pump (300 dollars) Visual inspection showed they caused the leak. no question in my highly trained mind on that issue.. Still ran rough
I wound up puttin new spark plug wires on .. Which THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE AS PART OF THE TUNE UP.. Ran like new.
Did I report them to DMV.. OF Course the inspector is a friend of mine and a fellow ham radio operator. His son was one of my Dispatches at State Police.

First bad gas can indeed clog just one or two or three injectors and .. Well the longer you run with it the more get clogged.
Second. multiply ways to drain the tank
Assuming you have a B.I.R.D. (bi-directional isolator device) you can simply plug in to keep battery charged. Disconnect fuel line at the filter and turn key to ON. firing up the in-tank fuel pump and let it drain off. Disposal of haz-mat (Gasoline) is up to you. I'd suggest a 'flash pan" and burn it But only if you are in an area where you can do that safely and without angering the fire gods (Law enforcement). Major danger in doing that if you don't know how (IE The other fire gods. Plastic Surgeons been there done that not fun)
|Or a siphon hose.. or both.
Then fill and treat to clean up remaining gas.
DOn't forget to change the fuel filter for if the gas is bad.. SO IS THE FILTER.

Just purchased 2016 Allegro Bay V10 gas. RV has been sitting for a long time, very low mileage.
Check engine light on, took it to a Ford dealer and they said it was a misfire on two cylinders, blamed it on bad gas which they said is not covered under warranty. They want 1000.00 to drain the tank.
If I don't they said injectors and other problems will not be covered later.
Should I just treat and run the 100 gallons out and clear light ??
Or should I go along with them. They said they tested the gas by lighting some on fire and it did not all burn.
Thanks
Jim
So, you stated that the CEL was on. Did you have any driveability issues, or, just the Check Engine Light? Lets not prop the sky up before it's confirmed that it's falling. Low octane fuel sets the CEL on my F53 every time.

A shop that drains the fuel, has too pay a disposal fee, to have it taken away
if NY is like Calif, yes its going to be expensive
