Battery Disconnect Switch

I want to install a battery disconnect switch on my 04 Revolution but want to make sure it can handle the amperage generated by the 4 house batteries. I have searched the board and found information about using disconnect switches but not the size or type.

Any suggestions?

They will produce no spark at all......IF there is nothing (or very little) drawing power from them when the switch is thrown. The number of batteries is not the determining factor.

It should be possible to get the load down to almost nothing by turning off everything that you can. In mine, the only things left are the smoke/gas detectors, the thermostat and a control board on the fridge (and maybe a gas control solenoid).

discovery4us I was looking at thoes but wasn't sure it could handle the connect/disconnect amp spike. The 4 batteries would, I assume, produce and hefty spark.

Joelc.. You may be corrected. It has taken a while to find the water heater bypass, fresh water tank drain and vehicle battery cutoff. The manual for the coach is very generic and doesn't show any of the revo features.

Just a quick note. With my experience an RV "should" have a disconnect switch. Are you sure that you are not overlooking something somewhere?

Might consider just a dead mans switch off of the easiest to reach negative post on the coach batteries. I use them on the work trucks we only use once every three or four months. Many styles available but this is the style we found the easiest and most reliable.

A Perko style switch mounted in batter compartment would be the easiest.
Higher amperage draw can cause early failure.
You will or should make sure the inverters are turned off prior to using the switch along with turning battery disconnect at door off.

discovery4us is correct, there is a battery use/store switch by the front door. However, as I found out, this doesn't completly isolate the coach batteries. I could just disconnect the ground from battery 1 but would like to have something a little easier since I start it and the genset up every 6 weeks or so.

yes what most have. I have the same system the trouble with those in some cases is the inverter/converter is still live and if left too long it draws the coach batterys down

Not sure if wiring diagrams are available from Fleetwood for your rig.
Get your serial number and vin number, then contact them for wiring diagrams.
I haven't seen any Fleetwood MHs without battery disconnects for the coach.

Iam under the impression he wants a manual full coach systems shut down where it kills everything those 12V disconnects don't always shut down all draws.(as in my case)

lots of Diesel A do not. my 08 allegro bus does not have a manual main house battry disconnect.it has a 12V bypass but not a direct manual disconnect as what the op is asking about

You didn't say whether you wanted an electrically or manually operated. Surprised that your rig is equipped with battery disconnects.
This unit from Intellitec should handle your needs.

Remember that you should not be connecting or disconnecting under a heavy load. The circuit to the inverter if equipped should not be going through the disconnect.

He must not have a switch(disconnect(?) otherwise he would not be asking such info/.The problem is if u don't run the inverter/converter through the disconnect your battrys will drain albeit slower they will drain

I have this exact problem,I have the 12v house shut down but the inverter/converter are direct and batterys slowly drain
