Grey Tank Valve Open or Close

When you spend 1 to 5 months in a park, do you leave grey valve open or close. When close have to empty often. Does it damage anything to leave open except when you want it full to dump with black tank.Thanks for response

Motorhome water pump issue

Last time I used mh I drained the fresh waste tank. Went out to test for next trip coming up and pump didn't run. Found a fuse in back exterior passenger fuse panel it checked okay. Where might the water pump be and how else can I test it?
