We're looking to downsize from a Class A and like the floorplan of the Freelander 21QB. Anyone have any experience with gas mileage with this model? It is available with either a Ford or Chevy engine.

Ford will be the better powertrain except for fuel economy (difference isn't much). Front end the Chevy is better for handling, though the components themselves aren't as beefy. Chevy has way more interior room. Drive them both (if available) and see which one you like. In the end, it'll probably come down to power and OTD sales price more than anything.

Sorry to hear of your problems, totally unacceptable for a new rig. Does Texas have a lemon law? Ask for a new coach NOT one with a rebuilt transmission.

The floorplan is adequate for two people.

The price is right on that floorplan, probably one of the most affordable class "C"s out there. I do like the fact that is comes standard with a cargo net for the cabover, so in my case, I can stash my renaissance faire clothing and bedding up there and not have it tumble down.

My only quibbles are the TPO roof, and the fiberglass nose cap that has seams at the corners. Other than that, it is decent, although you will have to check the roof 2-4 times a year because of the roof.

We have almost the same unit in a Sunseeker 2300. Our Chevy gets ~10 MPG. I calculate every tank. It's a sickness.

This summer I read on the Forest River forum that they are currently unable to get chassis from Chevy, so only Fords are available. From reading here over the years, I think the Ford would get 8.5 - 9.0 MPG.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Only BIG draw back on the floor plan is the step up !! When were looking at them that was the #1 killer on NOT going with one !

Nice looking rig.If you go with the Chevy Based Class C you will get a tad bit better fuel mileage than a Ford based Rig. Mine runs between 9.1 and 9.7 mpg.

Along with that, a better riding chassis without the chance of having to contend with the handling problems that seem to plague the Ford based Class C and a lot more room in the cockpit.

Looks like a nice floorplan. Not that many models have no slide.

Here's a link to your floorplan and specs to make it easier for everyone else to view it.
