Like a lot of you, we are changing out our Norcold 1200 and have already bought the Samsung 197 residential. Now we are looking for someone in the Surprise area to install it for us. We have called a few and left messages. Only two have called back. The other thing, is what should I expect for a cost to install. I know there is some woodworking to be done and they have to bring it in through the drivers side window. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Looking for ball park figure. Macktee

I just had a Samsung RF 197 installed last month at Precision Painting in Bremen, Indiana. Total cost was $570 for the install. My install was pretty straightforward, fridge came in thru the front door, and I already had the inverter and batteries.

Have you called Orangewood on 114th and Bell?

We had our Samsung 197 slide in through the drivers side window. It is just a matter of removing the screws to remove the window. The installer had that window out in 5min and the Norcold out with the rebuild of the area for the Samsung in one day. The next day the window came out again and the new unit went in. The cost of the installation was $1045 and the installer was ESC in Elkhart Indiana. Going on year 2 and very happy.

I've seen $3000 quotes from an Indiana for a Mobile Suite like ours, but that was including the new Samsung or Whirlpool fridge. So deduct your cost of the Samsung and you'll get a ball park figure.

Many people have done it DIY with just a helper or two because of weight.

The 600 to 900 is well within the standard range of install in the Phx area and Calif. Friend did the same last year. However he found the campground handy man would do the work for much less.

Macktee; I was able to remove my Norcold 1200 LRIM and bring in a 24.5 cu. ft. side by side Samsung through the entrance door by first removing the refer doors, passenger seat, side grab handle, and the entrance door limit(the folding metal bar at the top of the door) allowing it to swing open further, past 90 degrees towards the outside mirror). This sounds like alot but was simpler than removing the window. This process also makes both refers lighter and easier to handle. The norcold also weighed more. Also no need for a pure sine wave inverter as the Samsung will run fine on on a modified sine wave as per Samsungs own web page. Not to sure about install cost as there are to many variables, but it's not that difficult. PM me if you have any particular questions. KDK

Probably $2000-$4000.

Those prices are way high IMHO unless you are including the cost of the fridge. If the MH has enough batteries and an inverter already, it really isn't all that difficult to do the install.

I would think no shop would want to give a fixed quote (unless they go super high) because there's no telling what issues they may run into doing such a custom job.

At present there is about a 2.5 inch part of the bathroom wall protruding out past fridge,so I think that will take up a good portion of the fridge handles protruding into the hallway. Best guess. You are absolutely right about the drawer below the Norcold and I'm sure it won't be a big problem. So far the two that I have actually talked to, have only sai that it could be from 600 - 900, but the would have to come out and estimate it. Tom

Tom, what kind of bids have you been given? Each unit will be different. Your Dynasty should be similar to my Exec. The drawer under the fridge will make it a much easier install as there is nothing in the way. The only woodwork needed would be a false front above the fridge. Are you concerned the handles of the Samsung will protrude into the hallway?...Dennis
