This may sound like a silly question but do most campgrounds and state parks take credit cards now? Yes it has been some years since we have been... Thanks

You couldn't be more wrong. When I am heading down south for the winter there are about 4 CG's that do not take credit cards that I MAKE A POINT of staying at. Big sites long and wide sites to accommodate my coach and toad and great scenery.

You will miss out on some very nice CG's if you write off all CG's that don't take credit cards. That is unless you only stay at top end resorts packed in like sardines. :W

I agree that the majority take CC now, but there are lots of really nice state and local CG's that only take cash -- usually one of those "self register and drop the cash in this slot" places. So I carry $100 in small bills for that purpose, but it's not often that I have to replenish the stash.

Yes, most all RV campgrounds take the major cards.

Most do take cc. I have run across quite a few this past year that did not, but they did accept a check. I think the 3% fee or sometimes more the cc company takes is taking a bite out of some of the smaller CG's profit margins.

Campgrounds yes, State parks vary more than private owned CG's. But many of those which do NOT have a card machine in the park WILL accept pre-payment via credit/debit card on the reservation web site.

I've only been rv-ing for a few years but I've never been to a campground that didn't take a cc for the site fee. I would expect that if you make a reservation over the phone, for example, and they didn't take credit cards, that they would tell you that before you arrive.

Some RV Parks give a discount for cash or even take a personal check. The older Mom and Pops don't really want to or aren't capable of.

Last month, DH had used a CC in an IA RV Park and she gave him a look. Not only do they pay a fee she said, but they had to discount for being a GS Park. But she didn't offer him a larger discount for cash, so Oh Well. We like the 5X points for using a GS CC.

Yes, and some like Death Valley Sunset have a 'electronic ranger' card machine.

A couple of times if it was Passport America they wanted cash, and then a time or two if they didn't take a CC, they took a check. For the most part, we've used a CC.
