Flooring Installation

Hello,
I have a 2004 HR Endeavor 40PRT. I'm looking to get a hardwood laminate installed. Looking at the main slide, I think it just drags along the floor.
One service center said they would need to install rollers to keep the floor from getting scratched. The install along with the flooring would be over $6,000.
Another service center said it's a bad idea to install rollers.
Anyone out there do this to your coach? I know one guys said take it to Carpiterea.

Just finished installing Pergo Laminate in our 2004 National Tropical. Bought 100 sq feet of laminate from Lowes ~$250 and hired local handyman to remove old carpet and install laminate...$300. Very pleased with the results. No scuff marks so far.

Chose laminate over tile to save weight and simpler installation. (Tile would add 900 lbs)

Can't remember how to add photos but will send by PM. Thanks for the help with photos

Sounds like a good road trip coming up for you. Make an appointment, turn it into a vacation.

Rv's have wheels for a reason.

Keep 'em turnin'......

Anyone replace carpet with a glue down vinyl plank? I use it extensively in new home construction. Seems like it might be a good option. Thin, relatively light weight.

That looks beautiful! Any idea what he used and how much extra weight it increased on the coach ? Thinking of doing something similar but a little leery about how much extra weight it might add to my old 2000 Tiffy

Saw Ernie post earlier in this thread and thought maybe he would answer, but I would think there is very little difference in weight since you're removing carpet & pad with all the dirt. :). I really don't know. I do know the engineered hardwood used actually made for a quieter ride inside. We've put about 10k miles since the installation on the RV & even the DW says it's better with less noise. Not sure why, but we noticed it.
We absolutely love having the hardwood floors. Spruced up the 05 RV too. 😉

My wife and I would call that a road trip. Lol. That's why our rv has wheels. Then again, you may see things differently.

If he's that good, and we wanted to do that, we'd probably make an appointment, book a hotel for a night or two, or however long, and enjoy the trip.

I am assuming you are in Ca, and he in Tx.

Yes he uses urethane glue and hardwood laminate. Allure is cheap vinyl that needs to expand as a unit. If I lived in Texas, I would go to Ernie for a floor. The DW was really sick of the carpet so I had to do something.

It must float. Do not screw or fasten anything through the Allure into the subfloor.

Consider using Allure flooring available at HD - popular product used by many RVers. Looks like real wood but thinner/lighter - easy to install and maybe less likely to create issue with slide. S/B lots of threads about using Allure flooring - use the forum search feature.

You do not need to add rollers. When the flooring has been removed down to the subfloor, lay a couple pieces of new material where the slide comes in. Retract the slide and see if it moves those pieces. If it does, get some vinyl planks to lay on the new floor and bring the slide in. This will increase the clearance of the slide and won't scratch your floor. When slide is out, put them under the sofa.

Yes, that's exactly how it works.
I stepped on the slide floor while it was uin and broke that white piece 😞
I ended up installing rollers. Worked better than ever!

Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get a better view of the slide.
