Fluorescent Light Question

Our 2010 Newmar has twin bulb 18" fluorescent recessed light fixtures on the ceiling. Two in the kitchen are are wired to one switch. When I turn them on they both light up. A few minutes later the first light in the circuit, the one closest to the switch goes out. These fixtures have the circuit board in them instead of the traditional ballast and starter. Is that circuit board my problem?

Now you have two spare bulbs.....and one bad ballast/inverter board or a loose connection.

I did the same thing. I had problems similar to yours and got tired of chasing down issues or replacing ballast/circuit board.

Problem may be Lamp or "Ballast" (it rally is a small inverter) Suggested repair is:

A very good excuse for an LED upgrade is what you have there.. In fact I am waiting for that to happen so I can upgrade.

But first: Re-seat both lamps.. May be all you need to do, and swap them end for end.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Switch the bulbs and see if the trouble moves.

While they're both on and noting the one that goes out all the time, try turning the bulb just a fraction. That worked on ours. It was just a loose fit.

Change out both light bulbs and I am pretty sure you will be just fine. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes.

I'd try replacing the `bad' bulb and see what happens. They are not expensive.
If you have trouble getting a grip on the bulbs try using disposable gloves.
Since we all have such bulbs let us know what was the problem.

What brand are they? Fixture model or bulb number if you know it?
