I've read some analyses which predict that in a few years (3 or 4) the price of gasoline will plummet, due to several factors, not the least of which is the ever-rising CAFE fuel economy standards. As a whole, we're driving less, getting better MPG, and finding more source petroleum. We've also become a net EXPORTER of petroleum, from what I hear. The Chinese and other developing economies are sucking it out of Arabia now, not us. (Of course, we're sucking it out of Alberta and the Gulf of Mexico instead...)

There was also the EPA changing the composition of the fuel. In the next few years, the producers are supposed to remove most of the sulfur from GASOLINE, just like they did with removing the sulfur from diesel. When this starts, they expect the price of gasoline to go up, because of the increased production costs, much like the price of diesel went up when the EPA got involved there.

The numbers were off a bit. After conversion about 4.83 per US gallon USD. Not as high as europe but still higher than down south.

In the $3.20's here in NW Ohio, saw $3.23 yesterday. A few stations still trying to get $3.49. Diesel from $3.59 to $3.91, usually higher at the truck stops.

dezolen: Your fuel prices are not entirely caused by the oil companies. Your govt has put some high taxes on that fuel. Have to pay for that free medical care somehow.

Holy crap. Oil companies are screwing us big time in Ontario. $5.50-$6.00 a gallon here. From what I can figure out at $1.35/litre x 4(approx)
Funny how almost everything we buy was switched to US gallons. Years ago it was imperial gallons which were larger than US gallon, Then they made us use litres which still was more ie 4 litres which is slightly more than US gallon.
Now everything is US gallon except fuel. To top it off price decreases never happened when measures were decreased. cmao.

Hmmm might have been a finger fault on the calculator there. 1.35 per litre is 4.83USD in US gallons. Gotta compare apples to apples.

We are currently in Spain and in USD and US gallons here it is 7.98 per gallon. Makes it easier to take north American prices when we get home. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are to the point where the price of fuel has doubled from 10 years ago. There is always the fluctuation but the overall trend is UP and will continue that way.

The oil companies are just between excuses for raising the price. Hang on, there will probably be a cloud over Louisiana and the prices will go up because of a shortage

Here in South Jersey just off the Delaware Mem Bridge, Pilot/Flying J are around $3.42 or so for regular, and the local branded stations are just a penny or two higher. Mid-Atlantic convenience store chain "Wawa" has 87 octane for $3.43. Oddly, a couple of local Sunoco stations (Sun Oil is based in Philly) are higher than anyone else at $3.55. I think that's an operator issue. Not sure what the prices are up the NJTP, but they're going to be lower than in PA or NY - Jersey has a low state gas tax.

Life would be wonderful if Congress had not deleted one line from the original commodities futures trading bill. The line that was deleted, I am paraphrasing, stated that delivery was required for all futures purchased. Now you do not have to take delivery so speculation has become rampant.
