Heater Core

OMG. Did I just make the biggest mistake of my life. Guess I didn't do enough due diligence. I have bought a 1995 Holiday Rambler Endeaver LE Diesel Pusher with 37,000 miles. I need a heater core and maybe some AC work. Everyone I call doesn't want to work on it. Most say they won't work on anything more than 10 years old. If I eventually find some one here in the Denver area, I'm extremely worried about problems while travelling. Any responses appreciated.

Try calling the chassis manufacturer. They have a network of authorized service centers.

"the maleman".....You didn't make a mistake. Most everything mechanical on your coach someone will work on. Of all the things that need repair on an RV, the heater core can be a nightmare. Some coaches require unbolting the front cap and reaching in behind it to get at the heater core. It's not like a car where someone can look in a manual and see how to R&R the part. With an RV it's a figure it out as you go. Keep looking.....someone will take the job on.

Try Best Auto and Motorhome in Arvada. I just had my radiator and heater core done there and they did a good job. The owner, Jack, is a good guy and he will make sure that you are satisfied with the work.

Keep looking. You just need to find the right guy. The big shops like Freightliner or CAT will probably do your chassis stuff but their rates will likely be $120+/hour. RV part is harder to find.

Ask some other DP owners who do they use.

I was an auto mechanic many years ago and replacing a heater core was one of my least favorite jobs. It can take a lot of work just to disassemble the vehicle to the point you can get to a single mounting bolt. I wish you good luck on this. You definitely want to find someone with experience.

Were you calling dealers or mobile techs?
Take it to your chassis maker. Personally I like the little family owned service companies and definitely the mobile techs.
